The top shafts aren't the same. New one has a smaller diameter where the bearings ride and uses the same bearings as the idler gears.

It was sarcasm Krio. Racer1812 was pointing out somebody's issue.

I'm just guessing, but I think the box setup is possibly for the square pack. With only a few lighter parts than stock, a Revtech shorty pack and even 1/2 oz of weight under the steering rack I'm still way under weight at 1462 grams.

Hello everybody,

I'm having a small dilemma deciding if I should be going from a b5m to a b5...
I mainly race/train on carpet and the b5m is working really nicely but only with brand new schumacher mini pin... so basically after 3 or 4 pack max I can see myself slowing down gradually until being the slowest... no matter the setup The car is begging for rear grip.
Adding rear weight makes it better but feels like a bandage over a broken leg. When I put fresh tires it's a new world so much so I have to spend a good 15 min just to get used to it and drive it better. Before that the rear keeps letting go in all the corners and drifts "violently" as if it snapped off and go back under control.
I tried foams and other tyre brands but not with much more luck.
So I'm thinking about the convertion to have a b5 for carpet, is it a bad idea ?
The carpet I race and train are in fact pretty slippery because they are either dirt cheap carpet (which I absolutely don't blame the economic idea) thin and hard or thicker but very worn.
All the guys are running mm cars but to be honest you can pretty much tell the position of anyone by how worn their tires are. If you have new tires you're The fast guy.

Thank you in advance

Jonathan

Well the RM conversion is cheap.... but it sounds like you need to stay on top of your tires

3d printing is ugly, but sure makes things interesting for prototyping.
