can i ask what the typical or ideal weight of a b5m lite or reg factory team buggy should weigh for 17.5 spec class? ( minus battery)
im only asking because my son drives a b5m lite with LRP Gear and im running Blackbox 410r and mach3 both 17.5, my factory team with 410/M3 is much heavier but still faster, which ever of us is driving either or. the esc def outweighs his LRP, i dont want to add a bunch of more aluminum to these cars and make them heavier if it hurts us in times.
appreciate any insight.

Huh that's strange. Their website shows a "gear diff supplement" manual for the CE so I assumed it came with both but I guess not.

I'm building my CE now and see now parts or instructions for a gear diff.
This is my first AE kit and I have to say that the quality is awesome and I'm really enjoying this kit. May end up on a shelf..lol

Weight might not be the problem. I've run a stock car anywhere from 165ish to 1510 and I personally couldn't tell if it had more rip or not. Gearing and timing on the end bell can make a huge difference, and every motor is slightly different and could need different things to get the best performance

Mine is being delivered tomorrow and I'm excited! My first kit and first R/C in about 10 years. Glad to hear it's a quality kit.

ROAR minimum weight for 17.5 buggy is 1499 grams. In a spec class where power is limited you want to be as light as possible to take advantage of the available power. Some people might like a little more weight depending on conditions. My B5M weighs 1520 as it hits the track. The little extra weight just makes sure that an inaccurate scale at another facility doesnt force me to add weight.

I would shoot for that 1499 limit, or get as close as possible with either lightweight parts or add weight where needed. The nice thing about adding weight to a light car is that the weight can be added where it could be beneficial. Taking away weight in the drivetrain and adding it to the chassis where you need it can beneficial in both speed and handling.

All of my stock B5Ms felt best between 1530 - 1550 grams. I was able to get one down to 1411 grams with a chassis liner and it never felt quite right but I was the only stock car that could hit our triple for an entire 5-7 minute race. One of the key tuning items I use is the battery. You can cut a load of weight just by using a light pack.

What gearing is better for 17.5 69/31 or 78/23? Im running Tekin RS and Tekin gen 3 motor. Tekin motor is at 30 degree timing and 10 boost in ESC. 10 boost felt faster then 30 timing in the esc.

69/31 is ticket depending on track size.

You can't run boost in stock 17.5 classes fyi.

My buggy is now around 1480-1500 . I put a carbon fiber chassis on it. The lightweight helps acceleration when you have a small run up to clear a set of jumps and it helps corner speed in my opinion.

Heavier will be easier to drive but won't have that get up n go.
