I don't know why no one has really suggested the XP line of servos, they are better quality then the Savox (in my opinion). One issue I've seen with Savox is that they will draw a lot of power and sometimes require an additional capacitor be used. This is not an issue I've seen with other brands of servos, be it XP or any other brand.

IIRC they're pretty heavy servos.

I've been using the same savox 1257 for 3 years with no issues. I've never had to add a capacitor either and I've had airtronics, ko propo and now spektrum radios with an orion esc.

Why is the 1257 a better option over the 1258?

Faster. Torque isn't a worry in 2wd buggy.

if it has a 57 at the end of the part number. it must be good. I've had few of them last 10 years. can't beat the return for the price!

I suppose I haven't really tried many other brands. First one I bought for a heli was cheapest for the specs I wanted and pretty much just stuck with them since.

IMO, and I know a bunch of guys will agree with me, the flat front arms are a must for the MM. It just calms the car down and makes it wayyy easier to drive harder and consistently. The gullwings are just to damn twitchy and offer good initial steering but I think the flat arms have better all around steering.

Default Aftermarket Parts

Who makes the best aftermarket parts for the B5M?

And what are the first pieces to upgrade? Are there any known failure points that should be replaced out of the kit?

There is no such thing. Start with box stock, and tweak from there

Check post #1. The only upgrade I would consider a must, is the slipper system.
