hi mate. from my own experience... if this is your first buggy, then prob start off with a cheaper engine. like OS RG. on my first few engines I ruined them, let dirt in and didnt use the right air filter oil. filter fall off etc.
but if budget is big then go for whatever u want
cheers

hey the kit came with a air filter, seems decent... is it safe to use or should i go buy a nice one tomorrow. and the only oil i got is rc10gt filter oil... guess that should work well...

so long as its dual stage filter should be good enough.
and that oil is the thick sticky oil.
AE (associated) oil is good and is only $2.50 and lasts "ages"

what do you mean by a three stage filter?
the ones that have a foam peice main section, then a thin foam "sock" that goes over this and a plastic cap?
are the GS buggy air filters 3 stage filters?

Its a sp 1 one edition. And the parts are easy to get in my area, So thats why i got the kyosho. I got to build the shocks and mount the servo tray and all the linkages and i'll be done. I had to stop around 4 am last night...started seeing lobsters on the wall.
