I run a Viper VTX10R so I don't need a backup.

Hobbywing X-Car 120a. I have one as a backup, and one in a basher. Tough ESC for $35. Has about the same amount of options as my main ESC, the Reventon Pro.

I don't think I'd ever have an extra esc/motor just sitting around cause I'd just be tempted to buy another rc to use it in haha, I use tekin though and so far everything is good, hobbywing is good and cheap but ANY company can and will have failures so I pay the extra money for GREAT customer support which you won't get with cheaper brands

I have two of the same SC trucks. One basher, One racer. I just throw the basher in my car when I head to the track. That way, no matter WHAT breaks, I know I have at least one of anything I break.

I have learned to carry an extra to every big race I've attended. I've reversed terminals, blown a servo, and ruined a tranny on a car I couldn't get parts for, all while being hours for home.

I'd much rather have a spare with me, than have to drop the addition coin during a long (read: expensive) race weekend.

I usually have a spare RS Pro, or LRP of some sort. Depends on what I'm running at the time. Right now, whatever the backup is, it has to be able to handle a 4x4 buggy with a hot motor.

Big races are understandable, reversed terminals is why I don't run inboard haha I'm too scared to screw up 1 day and that's why I hate shorty lipos cause I'm forced to run inboard

All of my vehicles have Tekin RS or RS Pro ESCs. I won't ever race more than 3 classes at a time, so I always have a spare I can grab if I need it.
