Another vote for ProMatch from me. They sell the cream of the crop of the iP batteries. The 7200mah packs are fantastic. Plenty of punch, never puffy, and they will last an easy 10+ minutes (in my SCT410 with an RX8/SC4X 4.5T).

I've had SMC and SPC batteries, liked them both.

IMO, you don't need anything over 6000mAh. I run a 6500mAh 65c battery and I'm only using about 3500mAh to run a 8 minute race (4.5t 550 Novak, 30-32 sec lap time). But that's my truck on my local track... So take it with a grain of salt.

SMC and IP packs are almost the same, the IP's have a slightly lower IR (probably not noticeable) but the resistance goes up faster over the life of the pack, so the SMC's will last longer. In a pro4, you won't notice the slightly lower IR that the IP's have to offer (you might notice in 17.5 classes if you're pro)

My friend and I both run these packs as well, both with RX8's and a tekin 4600, me with a tekin 4000. HIGHLY reccomended batteries !!

Also, make certain you have the truck geared properly. If you are running too big a pinion, you can overheat things quickly. However your description does sound more like a batt connection. Did you have low voltage cut off set on the Tekin? It would seem it would have detected voltage drop off as the batt melted down.

The higher the IR, the more the voltage drops as you increase current, so it would be more noticeable in the Pro4 class.

Thunderpower all the way for me. Ill throw the 65c g4 pro race against 100c batts and the punch stays consistent throughout the pack. I ran the thunderpower's against the Orion 90c carbon's in an e buggy and the thunderpower's smoked them. I have not tried the uber spendy revtech's but I hear good things about them

+ 1

if you do not use the right silver solder or if you use bad connections, people can advise the most expensive and biggest lipo's there are, but it aint gonna solve things.

first look at your solder connections
