ok, this car is now around 6 months old. How is it holding up aside from the spur gear? Outdrives and diff wear? What parts break the most? What are the critical upgrades? Anyone running this car with a 10.5? I never really like super fast motors. And a 10.5 is probably fine for the indoor racing I do. I just dont have it over heating if the car tends to run motors a little hot.
1. Spur gear stripping.
2. Shock caps (not sure if people are breaking or just popping off).
3. Rear outer ball stud as mentioned just again recently.
For me, I have only experienced the shock cap popping off. It really doesn't bother me. I just pop it back on. I prefer that fix than having the plastic break or the shock tower. I even had one come off during a race after a crash. The marshal popped it back on. I may have lost a few more seconds but I finished the race. I have always had it come off after an accident.
And that leads to the most common upgrade, use AE shock caps until HB delivers their version.
I wouldn't call this an upgrade, but another common change is adding shims or filing down the steering rack to remove some slop. I added some AE shims. But it was more for looks than change in steering. It was just weird seeing the wheels moving so much on the track, I was always worried something was going to fall off.

I am assuming the answer is yes but I am about ready to build my new kit and was going to use the recommended associated standoffs and composite shock caps. My question is can I use the associated b5 aluminum caps instead of the composite?

i dont know for sure but it is said that the aluminum dont thread all the way on correctly and to use the composite.

Question for anyone. The front and rear bones seem to be off on my car front being to short and the rear being to long anyone else having this issue. And yes there on the car correctly plus it's hard to make that mistake with the bags being set up for you bag by bag front and rear apart. The front bone is 75mm and the rear is 73mm thanks.

I like how you used a piece of lexan to mount the fan.
I'm not running any fans on my D413. Temps have been great.
This may not be an issue since you mounted the fan, but IF you do experience higher motor temps, you might end up needing to get all that extra wire off of your motor can. This would be especially helpful if your fan played out in the middle of a race. I had wires packed right against a motor like that before on an 8th scale buggy. Kept battling with high temps. When I re-routed my wires off the motor can, it allowed more air flow around the motor. Dropped temps about 18 degrees. Just food for thought.
