when the mini savage was released i got mine about 2 weeks earlier than scheduled delivery date on tower site....i was happy...well until a pinion came loose and shredded stuff, and its a pain to get to but that is irrelevant...thing is truck showed up 2 weeks early !...happy happy joy joy
i currently race a b44.2 and when HPI says that Ty was tired of babying the wheeler i knew exactly what he meant. wheelers begs to be landed on power, but too much and the ring and pinion made out of (insert swear word here) shreds ...when that happens not only do you need to change ring and pinion, but the ring is also a ball diff....yay you get to redo the diff as well before you can be on your way...not to mention that the top AE drivers where all using durango gear diffs in their b44's...AE rumor mill is going that we will see gear diffs soon....yeah that rumor started over 6 months ago...how hard can it be for a company with a full lineup of cars to pluck one that fits and adapt it ?...so why not just get the durango diffs...well they require machining to fit...so they are 100 bucks pr diff...and you need 2...thats 200 bucks if my 3rd grade math is correct on top of the price of the 44 to begin with....the 44 also comes with center slipper unit is fine, but should the buggy wheelie it will take a split second before your cartwheeling down the straight(with damage), you could set the slipper super loose just a 1/8th turn before the spur will melt, the transmission will thank you....but good luck laying down enough power to correct a failed landing in a 6 pack...so great for the straight...not so much for short launches.
dont get me wrong the b44.2 can be super fast, especially if you have 200$ to drop durango diffs in there....when i saw HPI/HB making a wheeler with 3 diffs....i was sold, having driven 1/8 scale buggies i knew that was what i wanted....being able to land nose first on power whith out the worry of shredding the diff....and to biggest worry is local hobby shop parts support....but i think this wheeler is going to be such a hit that they will start to have parts

There's a vid I saw on youtube about the engineering and design of the kit, with the Engineer explaining everything.
I love Engineering and it is evident that a lot of research and development and track testing when into this kit.
Will a 7.5 or 8.5 Tekin Gen 2 be plenty of horsepower?
Anyone planning to run a Hobbywing esc?
I'm not sure what servo to run. suggestions welcome.

i am going to run a Team powers Radon 140A (VERY simelar to HW 120A v3.1) and team powers actinium 6.5, with a savox 1258 or 1257 servo (i want a fast servo with more than 100oz/in) remember to set your radio to optimize for digital servo's otherwise your never going to see the 0.07sec for 60 degree of travel
a 8.5 or 7.5 with turbo is probably easier to drive than a 6.5, i can barely tap into the extra power of the 6.5 as i drive on a medium sized track (norcal hobbies)
i love HB Beams pink compound, and thats whats going on the rear, and fullslot pinks on the front, with aka red closed cell inserts (i am going to recycle the foams from other tires as i like these foams best when they have an hour or two on them)
alternate would be barcodes in gold or green....again i drive indoor on clay...if you race outside the choice of tires would be completely different

Im almost finished. My friend did drove his this weekend. on a low traction hardpacked dirt track.
He started with 75K in the centerdiff, went down to 20K and now running 5K in the centerdiff. That has made the car much easier to drive. this car has an amazing amount of steer througout the whole corner.
We guess that when you run this buggy on low grip hardpacked dusty track it is 7k front - 5K center - 3K rear diff

you can use them 2 ways. its a tuning option. low or high
