I ran a HW 4700 in my DEX410... I loved it. Only reason I took it out was because it just physically didn't fit very well. On turf, the thing ripped.

The SMC 6.5t I have in there now is just as fast, but a little softer down low.

I mean, if you are starting from scratch, there are better motor choices than the Pro4. But if you already have one, no reason not to use it IMO. It's just not as insane as people make it out to be. Can you do with less? Sure.

I actually have a Trackstar 4 pole 540 can on the way. 4850KV. Can't wait.

If any car will work well with a 4 pole motor, though, it's gonna be this one.

last week i ran the 5800kv pro-2 in my DEX410 and geared conservatively, it was not uncontrollably insane. granted, it was on a fairly high grip prepped dirt, but i liked it.

You are talking about 2s , right? 7.4v...

I wonder if this will fit?
Team Trinity Revtech 4XS Quad Magnet 4WD Short CRourse 540 Motor, 3800 kv without any dremel work?

Seems to have 52mm lenght can. So it should do, right?

And the price point for the d413, anyone, yet?

You saying overkill in what, torque? But that way will be slow being 2s!!

Let me know your recomendations!

I love this buggy already, being 3 gear diffs is just right for todays brushless 4x4 power!

Remember this: This buggy will make history in RC world being the first (RIGHT) 3 gear diff 1/10 buggy. Maybe then they start to make smaller scales with 3 gear diff's systems....

I'd go with a Tekin 6.5 Gen2 which is what I will be putting in mine.

If you really want speed you can put a 5.5 or lower and add boost but that would be insane.

I'm unimpressed with the Gen 2 Tekins. OK top end, but not much grunt. LRP X20 motors are monsters, but I'm constantly run down, and out-gunned out of corners by LRP and Reedy 7.5 motors.

edit: I'm running a 6.5 Gen 2 Tekin with an LRP Flow.

I noticed the Tekin 17.5 motors lacked a lot of power compared to RevTech, Reedy, and Schuurspeed but I've had success with the 6.5. Plus I'm a supporter of Tekin.

Keep in mind that I run on a smaller track though.

I'm a Tekin fan, but LRP/Reedy ESCs and motors are pretty darn good.

Yes, that motor will fit(its standard 540 size). Not sure about running a 3800. That's the equivalent of about a 10.5, albeit with more bottom... On a short high grip track, yes. But you will get run down by every 6.5 out there with any kind of long straight. Gear it high enough and you will kill all the bottom you gain from the motor, and just end up with hot short run times.

I dont think KV works like that with a 4 pole vs 2 pole. I had a 4k 4 pole on 2s and it was stupid fast. Way faster than a 2 pole with more kv. That being said, 4 pole in a 4x4 1/10 buggy might be over kill. The 4 pole are nice because of the heavier trucks and whatnot. I have never seen anyone with a 6.5 say, man I need more power, lol.

May have to try LRP or Reedy but their Customer Service is what keeps me away. I've heard way too many bad stories and long turn around times.

Reedy? I have never had issues with reedy support. I sent them a blown motor out of warranty, they fixed it, sent it back and didnt change me. 10 day turn around from the time i shipped it. They said if it was unrepairable, they would send me a new motor for $45.

Tekin Gen 2 ESC w/ Trinity D3.5 is best combo ever.

Why not run the same electronics combo Ty (Tessman) ran in his buggy? Orion R10 esc & 6.5T VST2 motor seem to work good for him, Cav, Tebo & most of the TLR team.

Some people just like to tinker with things and try different stuff...

I'm one of those guys.

That's what makes all this fun for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought they went with 5.5's there.
