I ran an entire race weekend with a spur that was halfway chewed up. I chewed it up on the first pack with the car, most likely because I had forgot to tighten down the motor mount I reset mesh, used some loctite and re-tightened down the motor mount and never had an issue and the spur never got any worse.

Here is a pic of the spur that I ran 8 rounds of racing and 3 practice packs on. Hell, its still on the car and will stay on it until I kill it completely.

The track was a very high bite, sugar track. I am also not easy on the throttle at all.
That looks like a rock or something got jammed between the spur and the chassis.

I am picking up a HB413 from a local this weekend. It is used and I dont know much about this platform. I know there are issues with spurs, and that is about it. Here is a link to the car I am getting. Let me know if you see anything needing replacing or upgraded. The spur looks shot. That is all I can tell from the pics. I will see the car up close on Saturday.

Spur does look pretty worn. Other than that, some Pledge and a toothbrush and that thing will look brand new! Also you may have to get some spacers that go under the wing clips not a deal breaker IMO, just something I spotted.

Spur is shot.... I have 30+ packs on mine and spur is like new. Be sure to set the mesh on the most tight spot. I run on a loose damp to dry track. You able to get a spur?

no need to think about this. The D413 is a proven platform. The b44.3 is still going to have the same issues with the front arms breaking. What's the point of having a wheeler if you cant drive it hard...LOL.

D413 FTW

I dont, but I see that a few online stores have them in stock. Have not checked my LHS. I just saw that the chassis is 129 bucks, lol. crap I hope it does go bad. HBs stuff is normally priced pretty cheap. The d413 parts seem a little higher than I would have thought.

There goes the leighborhood! Lol just kidding. We have most of the parts in stock Leigh, but I think we sold our last spur gear yesterday.

rpm arms and done with the arm problem. but what I do like about the 413 is metric hardware and I already have plenty of extra of it. I have almost no sae stuff.

how are the ball cups/studs?

who know maybe ill put in a backorder for both and get the first one that comes in stock.

I've never owned an Associated.

A friend of mine races a b44.2. He put RPM arms on it.

Another friend of mine races an Xray. Tuning caster, camber and diffs on his car seems a little easier to work on to me than my D413.

I can say that my D413 is the best driving, most fun RC I've ever owned. I've only raced it 3 times so far. Made the podium every time. It's also been very reliable.

Personally, I drilled my pistons from the blank ones. TLR ones will fit but it takes a little work to make sure they are aligned because the hole is bigger than the HB ones. Look up my posts in this thread. I posted about how to mount the TLR ones.

Default chassis protector

I saw someone ask about chassis protector a couple pages back and at the time the only answer was to make your own. was just wondering if any company has a protector out yet for this buggy that I can buy and stick on without making my own.

jpcopeland1, I mean no offense at all when I say this, but if you've killed 3 spur gears already, it's very likely that you're doing something wrong.

Do you race with any other D413 drivers that you could compare your car with to see if you can figure out what's different ?
Not doing anything wrong. Have built many cars with zero issues. The motor moved this time. First time the spur did not have any teeth at all. Second one was a driver stopping right on front of me on the straight for no apparent reason. Took out the spur and ruined the motor. I think the issue is more with a bad motor mount design then an out of round spur (which all of mine have been to varying degrees) But getting a spur out of the box with no teeth is inexcusable.
