Anyone figured out the HB equivalent springs for the Kyosho xgear springs Tessman is using on his setup sheets? Not really interested in buying $21/pair Kyosho spings.

You can get the associated equivalents... Blue fronts and white rears only 5 bucks a set

Found what I was looking for. Forgot about the petitrc big bore spring chart. Kyosho xgear white rear springs are listed as a measured rate of 37.51 gf/mm, which is very slightly softer than HB gold rear springs at 37.80. Kyosho xgear front red springs listed at 63.05 and yellow fronts listed at 64.30. The closest HB springs are gold and red, at 61.80 and 64.80 respectively. I can see why Tessman used Kyosho springs on the front. That's a big gap in HB spring rate coverage. Why can't manufacturers make springs in nice 0.1 lb/in or 10.5 gf/mm increments?

I got yellow and red for the front and red and gold for the rear. The first page has the post from Torrence that has the springs rates.

I agree with racer x 1. I think most of the spur issues are not caused by the spur gears being bad or weak.

I ran an entire race weekend with a spur that was halfway chewed up. I chewed it up on the first pack with the car, most likely because I had forgot to tighten down the motor mount I reset mesh, used some loctite and re-tightened down the motor mount and the spur never got any worse.

Here is a pic of the spur that I ran 8 rounds of racing and 3 practice packs on. Hell, its still on the car and will stay on it until I kill it completely.

The track was a very high bite, sugar track. I am also not easy on the throttle at all.

Still the original spur and pinion
Been running this car from April on hardpacked dirt, and lately on astro with 300K in centerdiff.

My spur is still perfect also.

jpcopeland1, I mean no offense at all when I say this, but if you've killed 3 spur gears already, it's very likely that you're doing something wrong.

Do you race with any other D413 drivers that you could compare your car with to see if you can figure out what's different ?

Last Sunday a buddy of mine stripped his spur. he told me that it was the motor coming loose from its mount. He forgot to really tighten the 2 screws.

Maybe peeps that are stripping spurs, they should check that. it could have something to do with it.
