Yeah, I think DeGuzman did a great job describing the key aspects of his design. It's great to see this. I also have great respect for him since he also contributes to this thread. Thanks Mr. DeGuzman!!!

So what configuration would be best? Saddles or Shorty pack?

Saddle: I think with the saddle design there would be more weight forward. Overall weight would be slightly higher since the saddles are about 50g heavier.

Shorty: A shorty pack is very close in weight to a typical motor with mount. I can see this as a great advantage for this chassis especially on lower traction surfaces were you need more rear weight forward of the rear diff.

Lucky that I have both batteries to test with. I will start testing this with my Jammin CR.5 monster prior to release.

This buggy is exactly what I hoped the Losi would be. Can't wait to get my hands on one of these. Nice job.

Is there any reason you wouldn't want a center diff?? Just curious why nobody else offers them in a 1/10 scale buggy

It seems to me that there was a rule in place a few years back that prevented 1/10's from running a center diff. The rule is no longer in the rule book.

I am pretty impressed with this car. Especially after the podium finish at the worlds.

To my knowledge both the Durango and Xray have a center slipper, not diff. At least that is what my Durango 410 has.

I expect production to be ready to ship before the end of the year. Everything is a go on the buggy, just finishing up the manual is what Torrance said was left to do.

We don't need no stinking manuals... ship it!

I'm ok with an automatic D413. Does that mean I can get mine faster? Lol

Well we're back in SoCal after a long week at the Worlds. Ty might be bummed about about not getting the top step of the podium but the entire HPI/HB group are proud of his accomplishment. It's not easy being the sole driver racing against multi-car teams. Any speed that the D413 displayed can be attributed to the hard work that the Tessmanns put in during the months leading up to this race.

As for me the highlight was when Ty K.O'd two cars (accidentally) within a fraction of a second during A2. I had durability in mind while designing the car but I didn't expect it would've survived that!

I'm sure that sealed the deal for more than just me on buying this buggy when it's released. Speaking if that can you give us an ETA or better yet a price to expect?

with either configuration you can make the car have a similar balance handling-wise. we tested both configurations early on during development. Ty says that car feels more nimble with the shorty, as it should since it is several grams lighter than the saddles. i mainly designed in the saddle configuration so that customers who already have saddle packs wouldn't have to buy shortys to run the D413.

if i remember correctly Ty's car weighed 1720g with the shorty pack. still well clear of the 1613g minimum stated in the rules.
