who's looking out for me?

Certainly NOT the local hobby shop owner.
I think this may be true for many stand-alone hobby shops. I am lucky enough to frequent a shop with a track. Everyone there does their best to stock kits and parts that the local racers prefer. For my track this means Associated, Losi and some Kyosho (as well as Traxxas but thats irrelevant for racers). They will also order any part you need with 2 day delivery and no shipping costs.

When the D413 was announced they saw the demand for the kit and made the decision to start carrying the kit and parts because thats the car that local racers want. Unfortunately they are having the same troubles with parts availability as other shops and retailers, but I was informed that my kit is coming in today.

I think that when you find a shop that does care about their customers, then its worth it to support them. Also it's where I race and I want it to be there for a while.

They along with other retailers had a similar problem with parts availability, perhaps to a lesser degree, with the release with the B5r and B5m. There was a time when people were literally running into the shop because they got a shipment of 5 sets of a-arms. As someone who has had parts injection molded in China, I feel for the HB guys. There are things that happen in that supply chain that you are not necessarily in control of. I'm willing to bet that they are getting things sorted out.

same corner again, different angle. a huge pile of buggys, right after the start. and look a D413 zig zagging around each and every one of them on his way to the front.

its amazing how guys think the race is won in the first corner or on the first lap! You (murky123) can run your pace comforatbly now! Like McGrath used to do; Holeshot, then 7 hard laps then cruise control!

you are so right. I came from 7th place to first spot. just because this pile up in the first corner right after the beep..

I rather have the 7th or 8th spot on the grid then the 3rd or 4th ( im not good enough for TQ )

because when I come from 7th or 8th I have time enough to look in front of me what is happening and avoid mayhem.

most of the time when I do take 3rd or 4th on the grid, there is always someone who thinks he can win the race in the first corner. and slams his buggy in the one in front of him.

Norcal hobbies had two kits come in today, both sold one to dstreelm, happy for you buddy, this is a great car to get into

ohhh dremel the front swaybar a bit flat so it han not be pulled out of the plastic dodad...and be careful not to over tighten it.

i ran josh close setup for the norcal champs race...its great..but current track layout seems to do better with 45wt oil up front and 3 hole 1.3 pistons....i also went with AE blue buggy front springs, which are one step harder than stock springs

also grab a bag a shims with i think 5mm ID hole, 0.5mm thick, and put it under the bellcrank link, it will tighten up some of that slop....but maybe your car is second gen and doesnt have that problem

get some high moly content grease for the outdrives, manual says nothing about it, but i highly recommend putting a dab of it on all the outdrives (black grease from AE and TLR is rumored to have moly in it, but they dont describe whats in their stuff, so i use 60% Honda moly grease....the cool thing about moly is even when the grease is gone, the microscobic moly remains, and keeps things rotating.

also get some 80K center diff oil, it will be easier on your spur (might even go 70K)...and a STEEL pinion 21T....

the 6.5T actinium and radon pro is awesome, use 3-4 layers of servo tape, i like the 3m tape from lowes that is maximum strenght (think 50 pounds) the foam in the tape is softer than all the other and will allow some vibration dampening, i could not get the kyosho gel pad to stick, good enough

put a fan near the motor 30x30mm will do..i prefer sunon...i just use the lowes 3m tape to attach it

i did sand the edges of the carbon, but i doubt how much a bit of loctite is going to help

blue loctite on all screws going into metal...once the ball cups are popped in place do not unpop them, unscrew the whole ball stud instead.

punk beams and fullslot works great, im sure the super or mega soft dirtwebs will work well as well, mondrell was running gold bar codes on his 44

that all i can think of right now

@Alderboy @Cygnus X
Hey can you guys share what gear diff oil you're using for Norcal as well as shock oil. I'm thinking 35-37 front and 27.5 rear? I just picked one from the 2 they just got in. I'm going from a 22-4 so I have no idea what gear diff oil to use. Appreciate the help.
This is NVelez I'm racing in the On Road series race this Sunday.

15K front, i used the 4 hole 1.3 piston which a screw glued in one hole, in all 4 corners....80K in the center (kyosho..there was several in the store when i looked) you could possibly go 70K if you can control you trigger finger ;-) ..im sorry im a bit drunk and i dont rememeber what i used in the rear...but it is whats josh close setup prescribed

front shock i up'ed to 45 losi oil....and 30 rear....but that is due to norcal latest mod's to the track (mountain and second double that is not shaped right, causing the front to bottom out and launching it unpredictably )

when filling the center with out...leave out the small gears..fill the diff 2/3 and dump the small gear assemply in there and let it slowly sink...it can take 10 minutes...then push them into place, and rotate them 180 degree's...fill up a bit more and dump the last big gear in there...fill or remove excess...wet the paper seal with shock or diff oil on both sides and close the diff
