Hi

I want to buy an offroad car for around £250 which has strong and reliable engine that can reach good speeds and take a good thrashing. I have so far found the hpi mt2 and the traxxas jato. They are both popular makes but what do u think is best, or dop u know any other suggestions.

I am planning on just plaing around with it so i want a good engine, which is a easy starter and reliable. Wots ur mt2 like? Got to admit it does look the business at the very least

The jato has a faster motor and top speed, however it's 2wd. the hip is 4wd beter for backyards. both can be good starters and live a long time when taken care of.

So if it was ur choice wat 1 wud u go 4, or do u hav any other suggestions for similar cars in that price range. I am well and truly in a dilemma lol.

Where are you located at?

Academy has the RT4GP in both RTR and Pro Spec form that is a 4wd truck similar to the HPI MT2. The parts look to be similar in durability to the Academy SB buggy which are quite durable. It also has stronger outdrives so no wear issue there. I am not sure if they have this deal if you are overseas, but in the USA we can get the Pro Spec truck + an Epic .18 motor for only $95 more than the cost of just the Pro Spec truck. Should be very fast.

I believe that another company is coming out with a 4wd stadium truck, can't remember who but I know I saw something about it on the boards.

So which stadium truck would u buy for around £250-£300 max, With a good reliable engine as idont want to get chucked in at the deep end as i am only a beginner unlike u so ithat ius one of the more important aspects alongside build quality.

Or what abouy the losi xxx nt adam drake, it looks good and is quite expensive, however do u feel that it is worth the money or not, and is it a roto start and if not what is it? Sorry for keep on saying the same thing over and over again, but does it also have a good,strong reliable engine.

For a newbie, 2wd will be easier to maintain than 4wd. Less moving parts.

I would say it really depends on what you like and what you want to do. The Jato is pretty new, so any bugs that it may have still need to be worked out. The Losi XXXNT series should have most of the issues at least identified and some fix readily available. I have seen the RTR versions go and they are pretty fast and handle well. For flat out durability, the old RC10GT is probably the toughest of the stadium nitros, especially if you put those RPM upgrades on it and it can be had cheap as well.

What do you have local that has parts support. I would consider that as well.

I would definately get the Jato over the MT2, this MT2 just isnt very well built. The diffs are very weak and stock engine is not powerful. An RC10GT would also be a good choice.
