Default B4.2 RTR vs kit

I'm interested in buying a 10th scale electric buggy.
It's hard for me not to buy the RTR. It seems like such a a good deal compared to a kit.

The RTR is $250.

The kit is $280.

Is the RTR upgrade able to the kit buggy posted above?

If I got into racing and wanted to upgrade the RTR (assuming it's possible) about how much would it cost to upgrade the buggy?

I'm not familiar with why the kit is so much more expensive.

Thanks for any help.

If you were to upgrade a RTR part by part to full "factory team spec" it will cost double of a new Factory team kit. Remember, buy cheap and you'll end up buying twice.

About a year ago I bought a new B4.1 RTR.
Taking it to my first race to try it out, i quickly discovered that a number of things needed an upgrade just to be reasonably competitive.
Today i have upgraded the following:
Servo (too weak ... i expected slow and would have been able to live with that)
Transmitter/receiver (stock one suck, cant set EPA on steering so its all but useless)
ESC ( i fried it and after replacing it i discovered how much i had been missing because of this in regards to speed and smoothness)
Motor (it was really fast after i changed the ESC, but still not sensored, so had to go)
Tires and rims (wrong kind for the tracks i visit)
I also bought a few of the alu spares when things broke more than once, im sorry but canr recall which ones.
I also tried CVD axles, but that is not a needed upgrade i think.

So there it is, my list.
Today it is obvious that i could have saved with the kit and gotten all the nice things that i still regret not having.
That being said, i dont regret buying it, it has been a lot of fun racing with it

The main reason why the kit is more is because it comes with every hopup needed for it that you would replace on the B4.1 RTR anyways. I leared that a long time ago when i bought a RTR Losi XXX-T .

I know somebody said that you buy cheap you will buy twice maybe a long time ago i agree yes but now certain things in RC are just as good as name brands half the price.
