The front shaft should be a running change. If you buy a new front shaft it should be longer then the one that came with the first batch of kits.

I was going to order a kit today from Amain. Is there anyway of knowing if it's a new batch of kits or not?

Why should you get one free? The one that came with the kit works fine. Just use the foam pads or a shock o ring.

But didn't you say it should be a running change and should be longer.

I believe the current length is right.

Shock o rings are too big.. fuel hose is the go

There is no new batch. The kit is fine if you build it right.

Ok. This will be my first Kyosho car. Hope I'm not disappointed.

I had one issue with my kit but it ran great. The center shafts had a slight bend to them. The front more so than the rear. I couldn't see it until I spun everything over before installing electronics. I submitted a ticket to Kyosho support with a short video of the issue and by the next week I had parts in my mailbox. Kyosho has top notch support. As far as length I didn't see any difference between the front shafts and I haven't had a problem with them popping out. Just make sure you have the foam or o-ring up front and the plastic spacer at the center installed correctly. It is offset. This car has so much more potential than my ZX5 but I need to drive better. You will not be disappointed.

Noticed that the spur/slipper assembly had a good deal of play in it (shifting forward/back) and was present with other newly built ZX-6's that I looked at locally. Enough play that I could see as possibly contributing to the the center shaft(s) popping out in the right conditions.

I used a single shim (0.2-0.3 or so) on the inside of one of outdrive bearings which took out all of the play. No issues thus far.

Are you putting in set screws in the 2 holes? You need to do that so the bearings stay put. Don't tighten them too much or it will bind (you will hear the difference.)

I'm not. I have seen the holes on the center mount top plate that go through to the bearing location, but I just scanned through the manual just now and I am not seeing any mention of using set screws.

But it certainly makes sense to do so - What size setscrews are you using here?

Whatever you have left over. Should be the same as the one that goes into the sway bar mounts.

Here's a setup I have been working on. Super easy to drive and fast. I want to try the stock arms eventually and some different sways but for now this is a easy base setup for me to go off of.
