Default Simple tips for gluing tires on rims please.

Have some new 2.2s and Losi rims and the glue, but no experience at all. Thanks for any and all tips on how to do this. Ya know they say, experience is something you gain about 2 minutes after you needed it.

I clean the rim of the tire with simple green or dish soap and a green abrasive pad. This gets rid of any mold release compound left over on the tire.

get some good rubber bands and some good losi glue. aka or jconcepts has good glue. start with cleaning, getting the tire and insert in and spin the tires to see if they are true. make sure the rim is seated. glue one side and let it set. dont hurry or be in one. after gluing let set for 24 hrs before you race. wash tires with denatured alca. scuff up the rims and take off the shine for good adhesion .

I find these great for neat and even application. never end up with any on my fingers

apply, work it around, then throw on jconcepts (or similar) bands to dry

Watching it being done imo is better than reading about it. Watch & learn from the master -

The basic technique is the same regardless of what kind of tyres you are gluing.

USE RUBBER BANDS, and apply lightly You can always add more, but getting glue off is hard and never turns out good lol

Also use a medium glue so it doesn't dry so fast. Also look at this thread. It's a fried of mine and I also glue this way. http://www.rcshortcourse.com/forum/t...ng-method.html

Make sure you use a glue tip or straw with a tiny opening. They really make it easier to control the amount and placement of the glue. I use these and cut them so that they are only about 1/2" long from the end of the glue bottle:

Use rubber bands on outside edge of the tire while gluing. This makes it really easy. The bead will seat effortlessly. Use the tube supplied with the glue bottle. Just cut off a little peice and shove it in the hole of the glue bottle. Then apply glue to the side and bottom of the bead. Smash it down and keep doing this along the bead until you make it all the way around. You don't need that much glue just gently apply a small amount to cover the bead. I sort of paint it on.

If you can't get it on your own go into your LHS and ask somebody to show you how.

Also, after you THINK you're done and the tire has set up overnight, pull back on the tire all the way around the bead. If you can pull it back and see part of the bead, add a tiny drop of glue there and let it cure. You don't want a tire that you THINK is glue'd to be 80% glued and pull away from the rim funny.

I like to use this glue it gives you an extra second or 2 of time.
Plus, it's way cheaper per oz versus others.
