IMO AE plastics will wear faster than mugen, xray or serpent

the durango is very strong too, I'm racing a DNX408 and never had a single issue

And you already have the erbe so you have 3s packs I'm sure which is why I went with caster they run dual packs like the Revo so you don't have to buy more batts you can use the same packs in both instead of having to buy 4 or 6s packs just for buggy

Actually my Revo runs 4S. We simply don't have anyplace big enough and flat enough to drive a big monster truck on 6S. That, and I don't feel like rebuiding my diffs every time I puncht he throttle.

That's precisely one of the reasons I want to get a buggy and drive it on 6S - it will feel different enough after the Revo, and I won't need to fear for my diffs. I may even do some speed runs on asphalt and grass (if I find any ).

Anyway, DEX408 currently has an edge over RC8.2e because of Durango's symmetrical battery trays. I figure that on a car where the batteries are located on one side only, 6S will cause some major balance issues.

Are there any other 1:8 e-buggies with similar battery tray design?

So unless I've somehow missed a kit, it's down to either Durango DEX408 or Serpent 811-Be 2.0. Those two are the only kits I could find that a symmetrical battery tray design which would allow me to run 6S without completely screwing up weight balance.

I've already said the caster ex1.5r pro runs dual packs

my dnx408 has been as strong as my previous xray, never had a problem with its durability

I'm actually out of ideas now. It appears that none of the 1:8 cars can fit 2x3S packs and still maintain any semblance of balance

I'd actually have to go with 4S if I wanted to bash any of the cars mentioned in this thread, but my dignity would never allow anything other than 6S

It almost looks like I'll have to get a 1:8 truggy with a Tekno V4 instead to accommodate 160mm+ batteries.

truggy is the best choice for bashing IMO

That's what I figured from the very beginning, yet I still resisted the voice of rason because I wanted something radically different from my Revo.

My truggy options seem to be limited to those for which Tekno have made a conversion kit, and which are for sale on AMain:

Mugen MBX-6TR: looks all kinds of awesome, and is relatively new, but I'm afraid that carbon fiber will break fast after I crash the car a few times.
Associated RC8T: AE is AE, but I am still wary of purchasing an almost 4 year old kit.
Losi 8ight-T 2.0: Also very old, and quite honestly, all my experience with Losi's vehicles so far (LST2 and 5ive-T) has been negative. I like my screws metric, thankyouverymuch!

And neither Serpent S811T-TE nor Durango DNX408T appear to have a brushless conversion.

If you have the budget it seems like you have, go for a truggy. Bigger wheels/tires, bigger A-arms, more ground clearance, more durable all around, more impressive.

What do you need balance for if you are gonna be bashing?

Serpent already annaunced a conversion kit as far as I know, the Durango DEX408T will be ready to purchase within a month.
Both are very durable kit.

If you are bashing, who cares about weight balance?

I've learned through personal (and rather costly) experience, that a car that weighs 500g more on one side will fly like crap, and land even worse. That is all the more relevant considering I tend to do dozens of 20-30 foot jumps in one session.

The Serpent Electric truggy conversion kit is announced, but not released. And as far as I can tell, it uses the same plastic battery clamps I hate so much because they effectively limit my choice of batteries to "ROAR approved" hardcases.
