6S capable 1/8 ESC for a good price?
Hello,
I'd like to have a good priced backup ESC, my RX8 has a problem right now
All I need is it being reliable and 6S capable.
Do you have any suggestion?

Xerun, Mamba Max Monster, and Mamba Max Pro are all capable of handling 6s lipo.
Hacker TensorIQ8 is also but I am pretty sure that is just a rebadged Xerun. I have the Hacker TensorIQ8, and Mamba Max Pro.

I'm running the MMP on a DNX408 and it's great as soon as you have an external BEC
I considered the 150A Xerun but its response is too violent for my taste
let me know if there are other alternatives out there

hobbywing xerun 150a even with a program card is 100 and better than the rx8 and as good as any other on the market. I've been running one in my e-truggy and my e-buggy for pushing 2 years now. Zero issues. Sensored and smooth... pit cards are awesome, no pc.

rcgod, then buy all means, see if you can find one smoother that is unsensored.
GOOD LUCK~
So far my Viper 1/8 VTX8 ESC has been bomb proof. Well worth the money I paid for it.
It has a great warranty.
See if you can get hobbywing xerun 150a replaced or fixed.

The op asked for one with a good price. And the xerun is sensored and switches to sensorless if the wire comes off. Viper doesn't and your race is over . I know because I was a viper team driver and was involved in pre production testing of the vtx8.

MMP works for me.. just bought a second one. Never needed an external BEC. I run airtronics.
Hobywing might be a better choice since it's true 1/8th scale and comes with the program card and is capable of higher current should you ever actually need it.

I'm already running a MMP on a converted DNX408 since more than a year now and I'm very happy with it but it needs an external BEC for the high voltage servos I'm using. If I can stick with Tekin via the replacement program I will but there is a long delay of wait so I consider a cheaper backup solution aswell.
No Viper for me for the moment, for the same price I could get a Gen2 RX8 and I know the software by heart

How much will that cost?
I have never had a sensor wire come off.
Buy cheep and get cheep.
Im done.
Pulse_ Check and see if you can get an xerun 150a fixed before you buy it. A lot of the time there is no place to fix it.

The xerun is perfect for 6s actually. FalconSekido does provide a 3 month warranty for it. Tekins CS is way better but with the HWs I have not needed it yet.
I have two 150A and I ran one the entire winter series (and the year before it). Its got a bit less amperage than the tekin rx8 but its rock solid, has better smoother brakes and the fan never breaks (don't start on the 'if its geared right it does not need a fan BS' I am just talking about reliability and availibility of a feature IF you do need it). Only thing I have heard about the viper is its always out of stock and it has weak brakes but cannot say for sure since I have not driven with it. Right now I got the sct pro in my ebuggy (XB9e) since I run it on 2 shorty 2s packs in series so 4s is plenty.

I prefer the response of controllers with low amperage generally. A 120A SCT Xerun compatible with 6S lipos would be great, but there is none.. I like smooth power delivery and torque. That's why I'm running a T8 1400kv and MMP, it must be the best feeling combo I tried. It's also very good in 5S with 10 degrees of timing.
But Tekin has by far the best software. Almost every single parameter can make you faster if you know how to set it up, it's definitely not just for the bling. It's just not the smoothest out there even with the last 224 firmware.
I don't know about Viper because it's the very 1st ESC they make. On the paper it's perfect but no idea on a track. And we can't say today if it will be reliable in the future. Other speedos have been tested
