I have a rx8 gen2 and the 1900 T8i coming and am not set on having to run a brick pack so I am open to running shorties. What do you see different in the handling characteristics running the shorty packs compared to the 4s brick pack and also is there a ideal place to place them in the tray. I will be running on high bite indoor clay here in the next month and a half so your setups should be close. Thanks again for the info.
The benefit is weight. 2 shortie packs ~400g. 1 5000 4s brick ~560g.
If you are running the T8i you want as light a car as you can get.

I'm running 4S 4100's and they weigh in at 467g.. I feel like the weight outdoor might help, but if I run indoors it'll be T8i, smaller packs and some other weight reduction.

Yep, that is exactly where we are. Not much more weight reduction required really. We are about 140 grams over min weight right now.

Yeah there are a lot of different batteries out there. No NEED to run shorties to get a light 4s Battery but I was giving an example of why we are.
In my example I am comparing my Venom 3800mah 60C packs a ~402g vs a Venom 5000mah 50C battery which was 560g
There quite a few options for 4S batteies including one from Venom that is 3500mah 4C at only 371g. There are quite heavy and lighter options to run your car but like Ty stated a heavier car may be good for outdoor for longer mains and handling but run the Tekin T8 Gen 2 motor for those applications. If you are looking for a light nimble indoor car than T8i and light battery is the way to go.

Then, you can find batteries that meet that demand for you. It is different for each person and will likely be different for each layout so its something you want to look at regularly.

so are you saying maybe Im running to much battery since the orion 4s are 6400MAH? so watch how much im using and get a smaller / lighter lipo for that indoor track. because I guess your kinda right because those lipos last for 20-25 mins easy and Ill never need to run that long. never really thought about getting a smaller/lighter battery. thanks

I am not too sure how "light" that battery would be. Being that many milliamps, it may weight as much as a traditional length 5000 mah battery. At least you would be able to move the weight where you want it being short like that.

Shorty packs
Guys i am looking for some shorty packs to try but they are a little confusing. I am not sure if they are 2s combined or 4s combined. does anybody have a link or 2 to some of the packs that you are using. what about 2x2s saddle packs? Think i might try something different to the 4s brick I am currently using.
