Weight is a big deal with all the fat 6000mah+ packs on the market. If your running 10 minute mains then they are not needed. Something like a Hyperion 25c 5000mah soft pack for ~$90 shipped is gravy in buggy.

Just finished my LOSI
TLR 8ight-E 3.0/Mamba Monster 2, 2200kv,
Hitec HS-7955TG Servo,
Futaba 4PLS 4-Channel 2.4GHz S-FHSS Telemetry Radio, R304SB Receiver, Futaba Temperature Sensor

I'm thinking of changing the spur gear from 43t, I want to get from 45t - 46t - 48t and bigger I'm looking for top end speed and I'll do my own test & tuning
I've got Mod 1 pinions (13t , 15t , 17t ,19t)
Can some one tell me what plastic spur (brand & model number pls)will fit

I was told (by Ryan) that 45 is the biggest that fits without modifying the chassis or raising the diff.

If you want more top speed you get that from a smaller center diff gear (with same size pinion), not bigger.

So what would you recommend for more top speed, considering I'm running 15t pinion and 43t spur and that tops out way to quick.
I'm also running 4s Battery 5000mah.

You want the smallest spur and you could go up on your pinion depending on your temps.

BSC Flash??
You'll have to Google it. I don't have a little gram scale to weight them. Sorry.

I would suggest going with what Maddog uses. You can literally buy four of those for the price of one of the Orions. And I don't even know that the Orions are on the market anymore. The are unavailable on Amain, and no longer listed on Orion's site (that is where I went to look for the weight).

Are you racing or bashing? The 15/43 offers more than enough speed for the tracks we run on. Our local hotdogs run 14/43 or 15/45-- that's it. If you want more speed than that for bashing, experiment with bigger pinions, or, depending on your esc, try 6s in lieu of 4s for power. I don't know how big of a pinion you can squeeze in there because no racer I know has ever tried anything bigger than the 15.

It may have been cheaper to just buy an XO-1. I have one on those and it truly does go 100 MPH all day long. If your ESC allows 6s, that is your best bet for speed. It will be MUCH faster with 6s over 4s!

Also, if you are just bashing on the street, experiment with MUCH higher diff oils, especially in the center--maybe as high as 50k or 100k, or even 200k to lock it down better via the high bite. Experimentation is part of the hobby's fun.

43 would be faster than a 44, and 44 would be faster than a 45 etc. Bigger pinion and smaller spur would create more speed, but WATCH YOUR TEMPS! 15/45 and 14/43 are very close to the same ratio, and that's what most guys around here run. Nobody I know runs a 44.

Remember, the fewer teeth a spur has, the faster it will rotate as there is less travel per revolution. And the more teeth a pinon has, the faster it will rotate the spur as each revolution of the pinion will create more travel and move the spur farther, thus faster.

Default chassis protection for losi 8ight 3.0?

Looking for the best chassis protection for a losi 8ight 3.0. If made I am looking for a full chassis protector made of a hard substance not the vinyl sticker type..any constructive criticism or experience would help...thanks

there was a thread similar to this where somebody suggested a stick plastic sheet that you could get at a home improvement store, and in varying thicknesses. then it would just stick to the bottom of the chassis. since the chassis gets scratches anyways most people won't run a full chassis protector on ⅛ and treat the chassis as a disposable item after it has been worn enough.
