Default How much water can a standard buggy handle?

So, I started racing inside in november, and today was my first time outside.

The grass was pretty wet. Sometimes the water almost splashed and it got me thinking if this was so smart. I wonder how much water a rc car can resist? I have a Kyosho RB5, where the motor is somehow also a bit exposed..

It's not the motor you have to worry about they are pretty much water proof it's your esc and receiver you have to worry about. Doesn't take much water to ruin them. There is ways to water proof them if you want but I would just stay away from water altogether. Water just isn't good for Rc cars. Can ruin alot more also like bearings and will rust screws.

+1 but a quick and easy way to waterproof your esc and rx is with some balloons and zip-ties just wrap the balloon around the electronics with the wires coming out the open end and zip tie the open end as closed as possible. but be careful because with doing this it does make them more water resistant but it will bring more heat because of less air flow to the esc. i would just also recommend staying out of the water unless you have a complete basher car that you don't really care if it gets wet.

This. Anything you do to waterproof a standard speed control will cause heat problems. There are waterproof/resistant speed controls out there though. That would go a long way in adding water resistance to the car.

FWIW, a good fitting buggy body and some velcro keeps almost everything out of the car as long as it's not full of vent holes.

Jconcepts chassis covers do a pretty excellent job. Better than the outerwears by a mile (I own both), but more hassle to put on and take off.

Id say if it's to wet to put your cell phone in then its to wet for your car... getting beyond electronics things like bearings don't appreciate water either

For the receiver you can slide some heat shrink over it. Great for keeping dirt out too! Easy on, easy off.

There's a lot of things you "can" try to do to protect your electronics, but at the end of the day is it really worth running in those kind of conditions?
There's too much in these cars that can RUST!!

Actually the moter is cover with celling sheet so that the outer things like water and mud do not affect the moter. So if you cars pass through water or mud no need to worry it will not affect you RC car.

Brushless motors are waterproof, their bearings are not

Even if all your electronics are waterproofed, there are still many components and important surfaces on the car that won't like water
