Never had this happen before.
Had a endbell motor bearing destroy itself. Seems I gave it a little help. I was running last week and a wierd hum noise appeared. The car is a new xb4 and the diff was a bit suspect so I thought the noise was the diff. When I got home I rebuilt both so when I went out again I was puzzled as the noise was still there. It sounded like a belt drive car with belt problems, only mine is shaft. After a short run I brought it in and it was HOT. So I set it aside and ran another car for a while.
When I got back home I was tearing it down to look at the drivetrain.... when I noticed..... WTFlack? my endbell was kinda hanging there
So I got the motor out and it appeared that the 3 screws holding the endbell in the can had come out. omg.... I guess it never occured to me to check that when the noise started... and in the course of running 10-15 minutes with the endbell loose and the bearing grinding into bits and pieces inside the motor... the rotor looks like a pine cone and the rest is not so good either. I won't blame the motor, Orion 10.5.
Lesson learned, only cost $100.
I feel like a noob.
