Today I found this (see picture). The "A" wire between the motor and ESC is partially broken, right next to the ESC. It's not hitting anything. Just partially broken. Could that cause things to short? I'm replacing, but wanted to get your opinions.
Hope this helps: re calibrate the radio to center trim the throttle to just before it starts to go . elect motors seem to work like a break causing the nose to dive.... if you stay on the throttle it wont dive ,,ITS a timing issue with your finger. you can also add push control in set ups like 25 or any thing that helps

That is never good. It could cause quite a few different issues.

I'm gonna replace and see what happens. It's not a driving style. Even going into a turn sometimes it drops the front end bad like the brakes are slamming on.

I'm running Orion R10 Pro with Tekin 4600 geared 14/40 anyone run 15 tooth pinion , trying to get less wheel spin with more top end. Med./Large outdoor track 80* ambient temps. Hope I don't overheat. Only those who use this combo please comment.

For me its dogbones/cvd the pin comes out at the out
drive. They come loose , from a stress crack or just loose fit.

Try turning the punch down on the esc and/or add expo to your radio.

The only thing I've broken on this truck since I started racing it when the 1.0 came out is a rear hub and my 6 year old son broke a front arm running it full speed into a track barrier. It's a tank.

FYI the rpm rear arms limit droop quite a bit. Unless you're running on only super high bite I wouldn't use them. The stock arms are more than strong enough and work better unless you're bashing.

I am running 15/39 with the R10 and 4600 on a large indoor track. No issues with heat and plenty of power. I have my punch set at 5. No problem with 7 min qualifiers running a Venom 5800/70c and 10 min main using a 7200/100c.

Tyler loves his now and it's a missle. Ran it for a full year all stock parts with zero failures on any part. If the new upgrades make that big of a difference, look out cause he's usually as fast with it as his 1/8 cars. TLR is always helping us go faster and we love it!!

I run mine 15/39 at most tracks. So 15/40 should be ok. Everyone uses throttle a bit different though so be sure to just watch the temps some until you know its good.

only thing I have ever broke on mine was the LF camber link when someone who doesn't look ahead or listen to the announcer say "watch the end of the straight way" he T-boned me. And I am pretty rough on the truck as I am still learning to drive.
