Hi AJ,
It's actually a very easy choice.
Just get the packs that the stock touring car drivers use (normally around 6000) in UK at the races if you want max performance. But actually any other pack with more amps (and similar C rating) is more than OK.
I've always had the advantage that my TLR would have constant power (with 6700 Nosram or 7200 Intellect and a 4,5TP) through the heats compared to rangos that use saddle packs that might loose a bit power in 7min heats.

Are guys still running the 2 hole pistons? Thought I read people going back to 4 hole variations but can't find the posts now. Tracks are med to high bite with a loose layer on top most of the time. Suggestions....

He definately knows a ton about the setup of these trucks and the 22 series vehicles. I had a blast Frank and I hope you did as well. 3rd place isnt to bad at the SC SHOWDOWN. I hope to race with you again.
I had a great time, it was fun to race with you all!

Looking good. Nice list of upgrades as well.

Recommended electronics.
Tekin RX8 Gen 2, Tekin Pro-4 4600KV motor.
Venom 7200mah 100C (just released may be a little hard to find).

I did some forum searches and saw this question was asked in February however I couldn't find an answer.

I am equipping my back-up SCTE 2.0 race truck and I have decided to go with Hobbywing since I am trying to keep the cost down. I have seen several discussions about the HW 4700kv and 4000kv motors and people appear to be using both. I wanted some advice from seasoned racers before I drop $200 on an ESC and Motor, I want to make sure I get it right the first time.

I will be using the truck primarily on two tracks, a 1/10th indoor clay track and a large outdoor loose track.

Thanks,

Also, i like to drive alittle sideways so whats a good diff set-up to get the rear end to push around alittle more kinda like drifting?

In my experience the HW 4000kv put me on the podium a ton of times with my SCTE over the Tekin Pro 4 4600kv
My only regret with the HW 4000kv was not buying it sooner when I still raced SC.
And all those wins were on a very large 1/8 outdoor track...
Hope this helps with your decision.

Hobbywing 4000kv, plenty fast, pulls hard, can be geared up, and has the power where you need it.
