Default Bought an SC10 roller! Need Help!!!

Hi, I just purchased a SC10 2wd roller. I want to race it on an dirt off-road track. Im new to all of this and Im in need of some help on a good setup. I need to know a good motor and esc combo. The rules for the off-road track limit me to a 17.5 or higher brushless motor, and no advance timing/or boost on the esc. The roller also came with a Spektrum dx2.0 radio. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It would be best to go to your local track you plan on racing at and asking these questions , if your running 17.5 blinky Fantom has the apex 17.5 or the d3.5 witch you can choose what rotor to put in it , as for a esc I would go with the Tekin RS or RS pro they will let you run mod motor and add boost later if you get tired of running blinky . As for tires and a setup go to your local track and ask for advice , they know what works for that track .

Hey Mate

Well whats your budget?
Does it have to be ROAR Legal?

Here are some idea's.

Cheap and Cheerful and Roar legal.
Hobbywing - http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-combo-js5.html

I have used both in a 22 Buggy works fine and good for the price, still use the ESC.

Or you can combine the ESC with a upper spec motor that allows End Bell timing

So

Cheap, Cheerful, ROAR Legal and Kick Arse.
ESC - http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-justock-blue-esc.html
Motors - Viper 17.5T
Tekin Redline Gen 2 17.5T
Epic D3.5 17.5T

Personally I would go the second option with any of those motors.

Well for $200 you can get a HW 45amp ESC which is ROAR Legal, Any of those motors I posted, a Fast/High Torque Servo and have money left over for either a Glitch Buster/UBEC or a set of tyres.

Your call.

Only downside is the 45amp ESC doesn't allow you to progress to mod. But is a great starting point.

What do you recommend for a servo?

Short Course on 17.5 "blinky" is an absolute DOG, unless you get a strong 17.5. Something like the Epic Duo 3, or Shuur Speed motors will work well. For ESC, you have quite a few choices. I favor the Tekin RS, personally. A little pricey, but bullet proof.

On your budget keep in mind you can keep the electronics and move them to car after car so think of them as a longer term investment than the truck itself.
