Default Sensor Wire Question

I have a sensor wire that has only 5 wires instead of 6. I can't remember where it came from.

Would there be any issues running a 5 wire sensor cable? What would it have been used for with only 5 wires?

My guess is that if the system was designed to run on 6 wires and you give it 5 to work with it will not do the job.

Sensor wires are cheap and fail often enough to keep spares. I would say just get a couple of them.

If I remember correctly

Pin 1 ground

2 phase 1
3 phase 2
4 phase 3
5 10k thermistor (temp)
6 +5v +/- 10%

Really you can only loose pin #5
