Leads me to a question I have about the steering setup. I ordered the exotek steering rack arm for my xb2 but I got the xray 4 hole alum one for my xb4... anyone run that?i just noticed that on the stock one there is a small section that is thicker at the end where the steering turnbuckle connects but the X-ray alum version is just a flat piece all the way across. Will I need to use some shim to get the turnbuckle at the same angle as stock or doesn't the angle of that matter? I shoulda got the exotek cause it is an exact replica of the plastic stock arm.

You will need to run 5mm of shim under the 4 hole xray steering rack.
You will also need to get the 10mm ball studs. It is a very good upgrade.

I just pulled the trigger on the xb4 '17. I never owned an xb4 before what are the most common parts i will break or need to carry. I'm told they are hard to get parts for. I want to be prepared

Quick answer is nothing will break. I am still running the '13 car and have broken nothing to date. Just in case pick up some arms and get the aluminum CVD cups now. The car takes 6.

Actually check the kit not sure if they included them in the '17.

That always work I ordered just some random aluminum horn from ebay and will do above. But I'm still wandering why Xray overlooked this - standard plastic horn rubs on body. Maybe it is assumed that it's OK to have slight rub in order to get more sensitive steering?

Also, as far as I understand there is no direct options part for aluminum one from Hudy that would fit without rubbing on body. Seeing attention on details from Xray, this just seem weird to me.

Parts aren't that hard to get, there's several online sites that you can get parts from. I have an 16 XB4 and haven't had any issues getting any parts.
The XB4 is built solid and can take a lot of abuse.

As for spares, I would recommend the typical front arms, caster and steering knuckle since those part would take the most abuse if your crashing into tubes.

If you velcro the body on then it won't rub... but if you just use the body clips then yes it will rub. Hudy does make aluminum 2 hole servo horns now. really isn't that big of a deal.

I used a pro tek aluminum 2 hole horn and cut off the second hole...

What sites do you order your XB4 parts from?? Does anyone have any XB4 '17 setups they would like to share for Med indoor clay on slicks?

I prefer the plastic servo horn, i would rather strip a plastic horn than break a servo and ive been running the plastic horn for around six months and still no issues.

Absolute hobbyz should have everything in stock your looking for. As far as setup my 16 car is pretty dialed and I'm pretty close to the stock setup. What are you looking for the car to do

I'm not looking for any one thing. Its been a long time since I've owned a 4 wheel buggy. xxx4 was the last I owned. In the past when I buy new car, or switch brands I like to browse setup sheets to see what people adjust for different tracks. It also gives me an idea what hop-ups, springs, and oils I should consider buying or carrying in my pit box.

As for XB4 parts you can get them from the following online places...
Amain / Absolute Hobbyz / RC America / Hooligan RC

As for setups, Petit RC Database has a good listing, besides the Xray page as well.

This is what I run on medium size track, that is high bite clay and using M4 Primes, so basically slicks.

Thanks. Just installed it last night. the alum one is different than the stock one in that way and also that the 2 mounting holes where it screws to the steering posts are in different locations and none of the 4 holes line up with the stock piece either. Thought that was kind of weird. So what would be the best hole to start off with? I went with the inner lower hole.
