does anyone know if theres any type of springs that fit on the xray xb4 without changing spring perches or having to mod anything? how about the kyosho springs? i spent a good amount of money on getting all the xray springs. sucks theyre not ideal :/

AE And the avid springs will work. I think the kyosho will work aswell but not sure if you have to use the kyosho spring pershes on the kyosho ones or not. I know AE's and the avid ones will fit with no issue. try the AE blue and ae black springs with the avid 2+2 pistons. 42.5wt front and 37.5wt in the rear. you will love it with that setup

with the Avid and/or AE springs, dont you have to use the AE spring cups or perches whatever you want to call them?

I don't believe there is a +1,5 mm hex in 14mm, but that would give you same width as a three stripe.....

Cool. Thanks for the info

Shit you know what? I truly dont remember. I have had the AE springs on from the very first week I got the buggy so I dont remember using the AE Perches but could of and just not remembered. I know that I didnt order the spring perches so either they fitted right on or I had a extra set which is highly unlikely part for me to have a spare of

I used AE cups in my xb2. Same shocks. Used the medium/middle size. Just push them down for a tight fit

The stock cups can work but they are a little loose. I just used the AE cups since they are only 5 bucks.

do you think its even worth it for me to switch springs?

i have all of the xray springs, including the 2 stripe progressive springs.

if so avid or ae springs, which would be better? also the avid cups would work similar to the ae cups i assume?

if you want more choices in spring rates. the setup I listed above you couldnt even get close to with any of the xray sprigns out becuase they just dont make them (specially for the front springs).

again the ones I am using is either AE blue front and black rear or the avid purple front and white rear to get the rates I want with the avid 2+2 pistons

well i mean, the stiffest xray spring is stiffer than the stiffest AE spring, it just has bigger increments between each spring stiffness. But I only race on high bite astro, carpet, and med-high bite clay. so I tend to always use either 3 dot f / 2 dot r or 4 dot f / 3 dot r...

but if i do decide to get other springs...would these spring cups work for the AE springs or should i get the AE kind that has 3 different heights? i wonder how yokomo springs compare to AE...

ALSO...

does anyone know why (XRA335030) the steel NT1 2+4 diff gears have been discontinued that people were using on the XB4? Is there another part number for steel diff gears now or are the graphite ones holding up well even for people on high bite astro/carpet?

NT1 steel gears have not been discontinued.

They are still in production and in stock at the Xray factory.
Any distributor is free to order and stock these

it's a great all around car. it has the ability to be setup VERY well on any surface.

however, generally...i prefer not to run any 1/10 scale on loose dirt. i just don't enjoy it as much or think any 1/10 scale handles it as well as 1/8.

Bentka, is there a preferred way to setup our cars?

I've always just used a ride height and a camber gauge with the wheels on.

But I see the Hudy blocks and droop gauge. Is that the best way to do it? What about the Hudy setup station? Is that really necessary to get accurate settings?

ECS driveshafts - anyone using these on clay? Any point in upgrading the rear or is this primarily for chatter on the front end turning on power? Have an xb2 as well so was going to try out some rears, as they are interchangeable, and who knows when I'll bend a rear drive shaft and may be in need. is there is a point, or is my money is better spent on just the xb4 fronts. Thx all
