So I just purchased a 2016 XRAY XB4! I'm a TLR guy normally and I still run a TLR 22 3.0, as that's still my prefered 2wd. However, for 4wd I wanted something more durable and proven. Even if TLR comes out with a 22-4 2.0, I'm not sure it will be as durable and as tried and true as the XB4.

I will be running the car on indoor med-high bite clay (use Proline Prime's), indoor high bite carpet, and outdoor astro.

Being my first XRAY I was hoping to receive some suggestions...

- What are some recommended upgrades to purchase before I build the car?
- What are the most common spare parts I should carry spares?

Lastly, when does the 2017 come out? the one year plan, sort of scares me...how long do you all keep your current model?

just got my 16 xb4 (still building) and will be racing along with my 22 3.0 on indoor clay. went with the xb4 vs. the 22-4 for same reason, durability. I went back through the thread and started reading around December 2015 when the 16 started to get into peoples hands to get a good idea of what they were going through with the new car. The option parts that kept getting mentioned for clay were the medium chassis braces front and rear, medium side braces, floating servo mount and center diff so I went ahead and got those parts when I got the kit. xray does tend to release a new car every year but even people with the 14 and 15 are still having great luck with the car. I figure by the time my 16 is outdated it will probably pretty worn and I will need/want a new one anyway...

just picked up a cheap 2nd hand xb4 2016, it needs a bit of tlc, what if any essential upgrades does it need (its box standard) any specific wear and tare that i should look out for? ive no idea whats in the diffs or shocks so will rebuild those over the weekend. oddly the previous owner had 2 dot front and 3 dot rear springs on the car. I already have a set of 2&3 dot front and back springs that i was using on my 2wd

glad you made the jump.

In terms of options/spares. I would suggest the medium side guards, the floating servo mount and the center diff. However that may depend on the track you run as well.

For setup, I would run a 1/2 dot rear and a 3/4 dot front. Also here is the setup I have been running below for a starting point at least. Car makes good traction, could probably use a little more steering but it has been solid everywhere I have run.

( this is for dirt, if you run astro or something there is probably a better setup than mine out there.)

It took me way too long to realize you meant 1 or 2 dot rears with 3 or 4 dot fronts and not half dot rears and three-quarter dot rears..

Got to run my 16 for the first time last weekend. So far I'm very impressed. The rear end is a little over powering on hard throttle exits out of corners. Once I get that toned down I think I will be very competitive.

Ok, so for starters , even though no one ever wants to race 4wd buggies in my neck of the woods I WILL NEVER Sell my XRAY 2015 4wd.I have never driven anything that I like more. My question is considering SCT is so popular in my area , what do you think I would need to convert or at least make my XB4 look like a 4wd SCT? Any suggestions appreciated.

Hello! Could someone do me a huge favor and measure the exact distance between the holes (center to center) on one wing mount? Thanks

(Between the two vertical holes on one mount for mounting on the shock tower)

Can someone help me with a couple things? I just got a xb4 2016 and I will be running it on both med-high bite clay, indoor med-high bite carpet, and outdoor Astro, with a 5.5t motor.

1. What diff oils should I run? Right now I only have the 8000cst hudy oil from the kit. What's a good all around front center and rear oil setup? Something I can start with? If carpet and clay are much diff, what's a good setup for each for each surface to start? When is the slipper best to run?

2. What shock setup is good for clay and carpet? I usually run 2x1.6 front and 2x 1.7 rear, any recommendations for me to try? What oil for each surfaces should I start with?

3. I have both medium and hard side guards and chassis braces. Which composite would be best for all surfaces I run on if doable without swapping each time?
