For the alu. ackermann bar we usually run 5mm of bump steer shims.

For further details you can see Malin's setup sheets here: http://forum.teamxray.com/xsheets.php

ok thanks. We run VBC slicks on our track, this can make some issues to the setup?

We'll post the newest setup from this weekends DHI Cup in Denmark which was run on medium grip carpet.

This would probably be much more suited to a carpet track with WBC slicks.

It's for the '16 model but a lot is directly transferable to the '15

So I have a used '15 XB4. Just playing around with it in the house I notice an obscene amount of bump steer. I took it to the track last week and I struggled to drive it, seemed to push really bad on power and slide out off power. Very little traction. Cannot push it to even keep up with the 2wd SC trucks.

My thoughts centered on "what am I doing wrong??" I cannot find it now but I searched for bump steer and read that one guy was having some of the same issues. His was due to the caster blocks/hub carriers being swapped left & right. I was busy all weekend and this morning I decided to check it out.... Sure enough, the 9R & 9L were on the opposite sides.

I won't get a chance to try it out until Thursday but wanted to thank those that post their struggles and fixes on here.

Thx Bent. Our outdoor astro track is wet/damp in the morning, so less traction. Could a solution be, running without graphite rear brace and when the traction comes up putting the brace on again or do I need to change to medium braces and / or sideguards also.

Sounds good. Unfortunately I'm going back to working nights so fri and Saturday will be the only days I can make it to the track.

New to thread and buggy

Will the Jconcepts shell 0258 work on this buggy, '16 model. I see that there is a version 2 body from Xray that is a wide body???

Any input would be appreciated. I'll be racing on clay.

Thanks

JConcepts shell is for the '13 and '14 model running saddle pack layout with motor in the front.

At the moment there is only the lightweight shell for the '16 model available as an option. But they do look the same.

Bentka, I have a couple questions. Trying to generate more traction for my indoor clay track. I am ordering a center diff tonight (will 100k fluid be ok at first, maybe bump to to 300k later) but was also wondering if these parts would help me.

1. independent servo mount p/n 366220
2. Modified chasis braces - p/n 361168 which mount to the stiffeners on the chasis itself(eliminating the upper front and rear decks). If using these am I supposed to also use the front upper "shim " - p/n 361173?
3. I am also ordering a new wing. which would be better 1,5mm or 2.0mm? 2mm seems very thick. but I seem to break mine in the corners often, so maybe 2mm would be good.
4. I ordered body 369703 and it seems a lot thinner than my 2015 body. Is that the stock body or did I get the light weight version?

Your talking about the Xray stock body, correct?

Yes, there are no aftermarket shells available for the '15 and '16 XB4 yet.

Independent servo mount will increase traction a bit and give more equal flex left to right.

Chassis braces 361168 can be used to increase flex and traction by removing the front and rear upper decks.

We always run the 1.0mm wing. The 1.5mm wing will increase life considerably. The 2.0mm wing is too thick and heavy in my opinion.

That is the stock '16 body. You can also get it in a thinner lightweight version.

We never run under 500' in the center diff.

500' for blown out low grip to medium tracks.
1 mill. for medium to high grip tracks.

This is what we used as a base for clay tracks on Malin's '15 model.

This also worked fantastic at the 2015 EUROS.

Thank you for the response. Is 500,000cst the same (or at least close to the same) as 500k AE fluid?

And if I use the 361168 braces should I also use the 361173 front piece that ties the bulk to the steering post? Or do I not necessarily need that?

I'm about ready to place my order for 2 xb4 16's but I had a couple questions.

Is the center diff the same between the 15 and 16? The manual shows Part #364901 but amainhobbies.com lists that as a 2015 part (i'm assuming their site just isn't updated)?

I have 0 local part supply options for xray so it would be extremely helpful to know which parts are most likely to break so I can order some replacements to have in the tool box in advance. Thanks!
