Hi All!

There seems to be A LOT of consternation the past few weeks regarding 12mm hexes and width so for more clarity I went and measured the stock XB4 12mm hex wheels vs standard 12mm hex wheels (Associated, Losi, Hot Bodies).

If you recall we were the first to release 12mm hexes for the original XB4 and so established our hex width for the available wheels of the time (Associated/ Kyosho). Later, more front wheel options came out via the D413 and 22-4. The Associated/Losi/Hot Bodies/Kyosho seem to have industry standard off set in the rear (makes it easy for handout rear tires for Reedy Race etc!) so we have based our newer hex widths for these wheels.

The confusion comes from the fact that the Xray wheel is a different off set than the other brands listed. The Xray wheels makes the width 1mm wider at each wheel. So if you go by that then please use this list to give you a measurement.

1456 makes the rear wheel width about 243mm wide with AE/HB/KYO style wheels. XRAY 12mm wheel width is about 245mm wide.
1408 makes the rear wheel width about 247mm wide with AE/HB/KYO style wheels.
1409 makes the front wheel width about 247mm wide with Kysosho 4wd front wheels.
1409 makes the rear wheel width about 243mm wide with AE/HB/KYO style wheels. XRAY 12mm wheel width is about 245mm wide
1410 makes the front wheel width about 243mm wide with B44.2 4wd front wheels.

So if you want 245mm width then you simply need Exotek 1456 rear hex set and 1409 front hex set along with Xray wheels.

I'm happy to use Associated style wheels though- makes life easy when you are at the track and wish to borrow a set of tires from a friend and it will be much easier on the wallet. And please remember- the difference between 243mm and 245mm is ONLY 0.08%!. Really not worth stressing over.

Hope that helps!

Best

Bentka... A few pages back you said the '16 body fits on the '15 just fine.... Is the 15 longer than the 16 or did they just move the body posts? My front post is off by about an inch forward of where the hole marking is on the body. Obviously I'll just pop the hole in where it needs to be but was just wondering if it was just moved or if there is a length difference. Also are the post heights the same between the 15 and 16? Thanks!!

I thought the body did look too short cause even though the holes for the front post is off, there is also a gap between the ends of the body and towers. But I love the 16 body so I'll make it work. I don't think it'll look bad. Anyone else have a 16 body on their 15?

What is a good starting point for the Xb4 on carpet?

Are they running same piston setup as xb2? 1.6/1.7?

For high bite carpet try 4 dot front spring 50w losi oil and 1.6 2 hole piston and the rear will be 3 dot 45w losi oil 1.7 2 hole piston.

I could be very wrong, but I thought the chassis is shorter only because they've tried some of it off the ends to reduce the over-hang, the distance between the gearboxes is the same, at least that's how I read the press release.

As for body posts not lining up, use Velcro, I think the Team use it on theirs.

750cst is the recommended oil for a front 2x1.6 piston setup on carpet.

60WT AE oil is 800cst

55WT AE oil is 725cst

Ideally you would want an AE 57.5WT but they don't make that, so I would use the AE 55WT as a substitution for the recommended 750cst oil.

It fits just fine yes.

The '16 body is slightly shorter and has a different design at the front.

This is mostly due to the redesigned bulkheads and the chassis having more flex (to avoid cracking of body).

We don't run a front top deck so we use velcro to attach the body.

The mounting points in the '16 body is obviously matched to the '16 spec car and needs to be adjusted slightly to fit the '15

This is what we run as a starting point for high grip carpet:

http://forum.teamxray.com/xform/inde...setup=xb4_2016

Shocks are:

2x1.6 / 750cst / 4 dot / 2mm limiter inside / 1mm limiter outside.

2x1.7 / 550cst / 3 dot / 2mm limiter inside / 3mm limiter outside.

To smooth out steering and make it less aggressive move steering link to ackerman position 1 if needed.
