Sure thing, when I get home I'll fill out a setup sheet and post it.

Default 12mm hex offset

I'm sure this has been covered before (tried the search function to no avail), but could anyone offer some advice on what 12mm hexes you should run if you want to run the xray XB2 wheels and retain std offset?

Thanks,

Oli

I have a tight spot in my gear mesh, my mesh is good all the way around except in one spot. This happens with the both the center diff and slipper. Im thinking it has to be an issue with the pinion or maybe the motor. It appeared fine on the ZX6 I took it off of. Think its ok to run? Havnt run the car yet, waiting on my exotek hexes

  • 3 degree toe-in in the rear
  • 1 degree toe-out in the front
  • Hinge pin inserts in the middle position front and rear.
  • Measured on the rear of the rear wheels (no tires)
  • Measured on the front of the front wheels (no tires)

Width using stock 14mm wheel hexes and Xray V2 14mm wheels:
  • Front: 245mm
  • Rear: 245mm

Width using 12mm wheel hexes and Xray 12mm wheels:
Front:
  • #365354 -0.75mm = 242mm
  • #365353 0mm = 243,5mm
  • #365355 +0.75mm (1 stripe) = 245mm
  • #365356 +1.5mm (2 stripe) = 246,5mm
  • #365357 +2.25mm (3 stripe) = 248mm
  • #365355 +3.00mm (4 stripe) = Not enough threads on axle to secure the wheel nut.

Rear:
  • #365353 0mm = 243mm
  • #365355 +0.75mm (1 stripe) = 245mm
  • #365356 +1.5mm (2 stripe) = 247mm
  • #365357 +2.25mm (3 stripe) = 249mm
  • #365355 +3.00mm (4 stripe) = 251mm

Here you go:

#365354 -0.75mm (2pcs) = 3.8mm
#365353 0mm (2pcs) = 4.6mm (same width as standard 14mm wheel hexes)
#365355 +0.75mm (1 stripe)(2pcs) = 5.3mm
#365356 +1.5mm (2 stripe)(2pcs) = 6.1mm
#365357 +2.25mm (3 stripe)(2pcs) = 6.8mm
#365358 +3.00mm (4 stripe)(2pcs) = 7.6mm
#365359 +3.75mm (5 stripe)(2pcs) = 8.4mm

The small inner flange that goes towards the bearing are not included in the measurements .
This flange adds 0.3mm on all the above numbers.

Someone should post and combine these on the first post... *Hint*

Also the post there someone says most people are running the 12mm +1.5 in the back and the +0.75 in the front.

Sorry to all awaiting my setup. I've been super busy building 2 XB2s and getting them setup. I'm going to the track tomorrow and will write down my setup and post it...

I agree and think that this thread should follow the setup like almost all the other cars do with all of the info on the first post. But it is a challenge because this thread covers many years of revisions of the same car. It would be easier if there was a thread specific to the 13,14,15, and 16. If anybody is actually serious about wanting to update the initial post with a serious attempt at covering alot of material in an organized fashion, feel free to PM me and we can try it out.

This thread was started by a fellow racer here at our local track but he's unfortunately not active in the R/C community anymore.

Having important and relevant info posted on the first page is absolutely preferred, but having a separate thread for the '13, '14, '15 and '16 is not the way to go.

Setup tips relevant to the '16 will most of the time translate to the earlier models as well. Geometry have been almost unchanged until the '16 was released.
And earlier models can still benefit from option parts and upgrades from the latest model

I absolutely agree bent about not separating the years to different threads, I was just pointing out that it would have made things easier in the long run with the core information of the car for that particular year. I would not want them split up at this stage of the game.

Have you tried with a different pinion ?

Is the motor mount properly seated in the bulkhead and is the motor mount attached to the motor with the flange away from the motor ?

There should not be a noticeable tight spot in your gear mesh, so something might be a bit off or possibly worn.

Im thinking it has to be the pinion, its the only thing I havnt checked so far. Everything is seated properly and the flange is in fact away from the motor. I will investigate tonight with a different pinion. My ZX6 seemed to get louder and louder the more I ran it, im thinking I may have had a mesh issue on that as well and neglected it. I will report back this evening
