The center diff isn't necessary. Just another tuning option. Will probably depend on your surface and driving style.

As for additional items the only thing I'd recommend is the aluminum cvd cups from either xray or exotek. The older kits had problems with the plastic ones and the newer kits are beefier but I just feel safer with the aluminum ones. Everything else is really just bling/more durable but the car is really stout as it.
Also, if you plan to use your 12mm hex wheels then you need to get 12mm hexes as well. Again, either from xray or exotek. The kit comes with 14mm hexes.

Because they run 14mm stock and have for years, not the 12mm..

their buggy just came out in 2012... 12mm was standard then. I don't know why companies don't like going with standards. It ruins the sport!

HAHA! it's team high budget! Not team stupid! (joking of course!)

It's not the money, it's the principle! Heck, you have Japanese companies like Yokomo following the 12mm standard. There is no reason why Xray shouldn't be following it.

Just like the new Tamiya kit. They are using pins for rear wheels and bearings for the front wheels. Like how it was done YEARS ago! It's principle. I'm not going to support a kit like that.

It's like stores not accepting credit cards

Yep. They don't come standard. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Those cups are the ones. They also come in orange if you prefer.
Xray also have their own in packs of 3.

Agreed Spec R has some great options for the XB4. Red or Black cvd collars (aluminum) inexpensive but high quality.
