Official release is getting close

Just finished putting together a pre-production XB4 '16 for Malin for the Worlds next week at Yatabe Arena and the fit and finish is spot on, as you would expect from Xray

No. That's exclusive brake cleaner. Made by in-house fairies and touched by the almighty Mr Hudy himself

Their 4WD isn't that special imo. Just one of the few around. The XB2 is a YZ2 copy. Good work X-Ray

However, their quality is decent. I don't expect them in top 3 at the worlds.

Can you comment on what things are new with the '16?
I don't race much or follow the treads in the summer and I'm still running the '14 model and love it, also I'm still running my original composite bevel gears front and rear, got 2 seasons on them now!!

Sorry no I can't reveal any '16 specs prior to the official release.

But the official release is just a few days out with all the pictures and specs you want

*proof reading '16 setup sheet*

Looking for a good medium bite indoor clay setup. Track is medium sized clay. M3 Rattlers and Dirtwebs are what hooks up tire wise to give an example of the surface.

I believe the aluminum gear is meant to save weight compared to the steel gear, I wouldn't run it with the composite pinion. but I cant find much info on it either.

You should be ok with it... just make sure to lube it up good.

I ran the steel pinions with ball diffs a couple weeks ago. probably 20 runs total and didn't have any issues or signs of abnormal wear.

maybe make sure the pinion/gear mesh is good. If you need to tighten it up a bit use shims behind the pinion. I personally did not use any but I can see how you might need 1 after a little while.

Hello there,

I am looking I to getting a xray xb4 '14 and I am totally lost when it comes to these. I have all Losi products except my pan car which is also xray.my main questions are how do I know it's a 14 kit, what sort of issues are to be had with the kit, what wears out quickly and mainly what am I getting myself into. I have ran 8th scale for quite a while and just recently purchased my first 1/10 scale, a Losi 22-4. Now I don't have much complaints there but I love xray quality and want to give it a go. Any info would be so greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

A question before giving you advice.
Is this a new '14 kit your looking at or used? If it's new just hold off a few months and buy the 2016 kit that will have all the goodies you had to pay extra for on the 2015.

The 2014 car is saddle position only so no shorty setup and no the 2015 parts for this won't work on the 14 car. If it's a used 14, look out for worn out out drives and shafts and most importantly the slippers tightness. If the slipper is cranked down this will without a doubt prematurely wear the composite gears in the dif and cause the car to be undriveable and unbearable from the noise. They are relatively inexpensive to replace as far as xray parts go.

All of the xb4s are tanks. It is very hard to break the car. Parts are more expensive but rarely break. For example I've only broken a single front a arm on the car and that was only due to a tube having its stake literally hanging out on a track I was visiting. Easiest and fastest car to work on ever.
