When I was playing paintball one of my teammates was notoriously stingy and he spent more money on electrical tape, jb weld and crazy glue than if he'd have bought 2 brand new pro level guns. But boy could he ever do amazing things with all that crap! Lolol

XB4 issues....need advice.....18 tooth pinion, tekin rs pro, and a tekin 5.5. After a 6 min run motor temps at 140ish but the ESC temps at 185.... We switched the motor to an 8.5 and the ESC was still 180.....Hooked up to a Hotwire and found out that the ESC had 80% boost from the factory.......so we took that out and the ESC is now at 170-175.... Pinion mesh is good, vent hole cut in body, fan on motor, bearings are free and smooth and the buggy is built the the manual specs. I am out of ideas on how to get the ESC temp lower.....please help. Oh and ESC and motor combo is NEW

My esc runs hot without a fan too with a 5.5 or 6.5

Don't know if you can put a fan on an rs pro.

So what gearing are those of you who run 13.5 using? This is a new class they are gonna be running at the Jconcepts Super Cup Series here in Fl. Thought I would give it a shot. I know the esc has to be in blinky but can timing is ok.

I run a castle mmp esc which has an integrated fan as I'm sure you know. Never seen the esc at over 120 degrees Fahrenheit with a Reedy Sonic Mach 2 6.5t, I don't run any timing in it at all and motor usually comes off at 150 with 19/81 gearing. A friend runs the RS Pro with a 7.5 redline in his xb4 with no issues. Might call Mike at Tekin for some advice. Good luck sir.

For 13.5?

I'm having a hell of a time trying get my gearing right for with 13.5. Been trying 26/81 and 25/81. But, I have to run a bunch of motor timing to get any speed.

I'm going with a smaller spur 75t or 72t with a 25t or 26t pinion to get my FDR around 7.

My XB4 rear diff is leaking where the 2 parts of the diff comes together : the crown gear and the diff where the fluid is into. Is this because the gasket is worn out? Or something else? Would a rebuild fix it?

First place I'd check is the 4 screws that hold the gear to the diff case, they might not be tightened all the way or possibly have a stripped screw hex head / diff case threads. It's a good idea to replace the gasket every time you reassemble the diff, but can get by in a pinch re-using the gasket if it isn't damaged or worn out.
