All of the above is good advice, just remember to change one thing at a time, go out & run your buggy, then try the next change to see if it's starting to work for you. Don't make 10 changes all at once or you'll get lost in what works and what doesn't and be no further ahead.
I would 1st try the inner hole on the arm, standing the shock up a bit, softening it essentially. Then try one dot springs back in the outside arm hole. If you don't have one dot springs - try either AE or TLR 2.0lbs springs. Then try moving the rear inner camber link down a spot.
I run this set up:
http://www.petitrc.com/setup/xray/se...lid2013071820/
Don't worry about the full top deck & custom 2 hole pistons, just run 3 hole 1.3's all around - AE 40wt front, AE 32.5wt rear 2 dot fronts, 1 dot rears. Diffs 7K front, 3k rear.
We have a large clay track (22-25 sec laps) and it works well, there.

new xb4 owner
Hey guys new to this buggy always wanted something Xray and finally after 20 years I got a next to new used.
Has anybody tried the avid pistons ???
I have a set that came with the stuff I bought and the car looks to be set up stock.
I am going to run the car on clay and have a ton of tire combos mostly AKA in all styles and compounds red and blue inserts.
Any help would be great
thanks

You can run it box stock to get a feel for it.. you wont be disappointed but definitely use the avid pistons (night and day difference).
I personally love the Martin Bayer setup that's listed above your post from heavyd99. It has tons of grip and steering but you will need a few xray items to complete it.
Other that enjoy it.. it's a great 4wd

Ok so how is this car for durability?
I see alot of 1/10 4wd's break in the past
this one seems to get great reviews from what I have read on here.
thanks for the help keeps me from reading the entire forum which I am currently doing!

Which parts do I most likely need as spares?
The setup sheet for carpet says that the +2mm rear suspension holders should be used - is that with or without the plastic plate that goes under the gearbox?
Also aren't the +2mm holders for low traction?
Regards,
David

On the Xray website they suggest the +2 holders would be good for low traction but I would think it'd be the opposite. From what I can tell they just raise up the rear roll center. A higher roll center just decreases traction. You're also moving the arm closer to the diff outdrive so you're decreasing the natural tendency of the car to squat under acceleration. If anyone has had a 22 and raised the tranny for more rear bite, you'll know what I'm talking about.
For spares, maybe some wing mounts, ball cups, and some arms. Doubtful you'll go through many arms though. The others will break with a really hard hit.

I wondered about the ball ends that seems to be a common part in all RCs that see the track.
Hard hits are bound to happen
What motor and speedo combos are you guys running?
I have an old GTB and thinking about an 8.5 novak motor ballistic

Team Orion R10 and VST 5.5, I prefer to run less boost and timing, but a hotter motor

That's in 17.5 Blinky!
Spare parts I keep are:
1 of each rear arm
1 front arm (both sides the same)
1 Rear upright
1 front upright
1 front bulkhead
2 spurs
1 set slipper pads
As well as some loose ball ends, screws, bearings etc
