Josh was running it, it's the full XB2 proto that the European factory guys have been running. I think he was a ways back (which in qualifying isn't much on the clock) but he isn't really a 2wd buggy guy at all. His lap times were pretty much the same range as the faster guys in qualifying from what I can remember.

It was the XB4 which just so happened to be in 2wd mode with 2wd fronts. Fairly certain Xray has only one prototype which remains at the factory....if you mean the XB2 uses the same front & rear ends with the same chassis as the Xb4 & it's deemed as a prototype then I guess you would be correct.

Anyone have a link to the results of the IFMAR 2wd buggy?

That's the first time I've heard of someone running the XB4 converted to the XB2 in the United States its pretty much a Euro thing. I'd also be interested to see how Josh did.

I'm sure it's has some kind of kick up mod I don't think it's a stock XB4.
I'm sure the results are in multiple locations, but I found some on LiveRC. View live broadcast for the event. Bottom right is a results tab. Looks like Josh Wheeler qualified 47th, but DNS the E main. His fast lap in q4 was 29.5.

Considering the crazy amount of talent there and zero team support, it's a very respectable result. Most of the fast guys I race with locally ended up qualifying much farther down the list.

It's just the bevel and sattelite gears that you can replace with metal ones from the NT1 nitro TC. Part # 335030 http://rcmarket.com.hk/product_info....oducts_id=1125

47th pretty good for not really a 2wd buggy guy, no team help and he's probably running a gear diff when everyone else is running a ball diff in 2wd buggy.

When Xray makes the ball diff for the 2wd XB2 it will be the smoothest on the market....!!!

There's been a few of the factory guys running a XB2 based on the XB4 at the EOS series as well as the Euros. It has quite a few custom made parts and they're considering releasing it as a kit sometime soon. It has more kickup, geometry changes, etc. Wheeler is the only factory driver in the USA. I'd assume it's the prototype. You can see in the picture it at least appears to look just like the prototypes the rest of the guys have been running with the extra kickup.

On the diff where you guys are changing to the nt1 gears, are you doing both front and rear?

i was told that many of the AE team drivers were actually running gear diffs in their buggies and also plan to run them in the 4wd buggies too. the guy that told me was told directly by some AE guys at the track.
either way, whatever Josh was running looks plenty good enough for most of the rest of the world to use. His lap times and position was more than respectable. I just can't wait for the thing to get released so the rest of us can enjoy it.

F+R, but with the new ring gears you shouldn't need to do it unless you like to run your diffs dry.

I would buy a kit to change my XB4 to a XB2 in a heart beat....

Two cars for almost the price of one.

The 4wd class is hot and other times it's dead atleast this way you know if you showup at the track you'll be able to race either 4wd or 2wd. Install the 2wd parts change the setup and your ready to race.

Very intersting....Smart move by Xray

Knowing XRay's penchant for releasing new versions of their TC's every year, I will bet that the 2014 XB4 may look like the new HB, flipping the motor to the other side and use a shorty if the class is going that way...it could be done! But I like mine the way it is for now!

Keep in mind that the thickness of the gears are different from V1 to V2 as well as NT1 gears. The V2 diff bevel gear is thicker as well. Shim as you will.
