We race on astroturf, so lots of grip. I will recheck the slipper though. A lighter motor did also came into our minds. I do have a 6.5t motor, so I will try that.

It's true that stripped gears will let you finish, but it is sounding like a coffee grinder. That not XRAY worthy in my opinion.

I'll have to wait to try things, I am busy with maintenance on th car and don't want to mess with this setup (accept slipper) before the next race.

Default Shock body - external thread for collars ?

Hi,

I'm searching for the diameter of the external thread, on the XB4 shocks bodies, if you have a digital caliper, because I need a precise dimension :

And can you tell me too, the thickness (millimeters) of the XRA368040 Aluminium shock collars ?

Thanks,
Bye !

Default first run

Yesterday was the first run with the XB4. Nothing broke and I was immediately in a comfort zone with the car. I could place the car wherever I wanted and it is very stable. It has a little bit more initial steering than my K1 out of the box and i love my K1. Overall, I am very happy with the XB4. I ran the car at California's norcal hobbies.

You should check out their new 1/10th scale outdoor track. Its comparable to the one at Delta. Tons of grip and tire wear.

Just ran my new XB4 out there last Saturday. So much fun. Thanks again for the help.

Hey guys, I noticed my xb4 has this clicking sound when I am on the track. However the sounds goes away when I run it on my stand.

I checked the front/rear diffs and they are super smooth. However I didn't open up the actual check the internal gears. The ring and bevel gears look good. I noticed the slipper gear moves front and back about 1/8-1/6 inch between the drive lines. The slipper clutch is set at 6.2mm and I just put in fresh center bearings.

I am completely stumped and would appreciate any help. Thanks

The only time my XB4 has clicked is when the cvd pin in the front centre drive shaft popped throught the plastic retaining collar, it's worth checking all the cvd joints on the buggy

And although the differential- and bevel gear looks alright at first sight, check the thoroughly. I suspect the bevel gear, otherwise as mentioned by .AJ check the pins from the centre driveshaft. If not lubricated properly the tend to push through the plastic retainer. That's why we use homemade aluminum sleeves but you can get commercial ones.

I just posted on the RB ADS thread but thought I'd try here also. Anyone tried RB's ADS yet? What are some good starting oil weights? Springs?

Thanks guys. The pins havent pushed through but on closer inspection a few teeth of the bevel gear seem to be sheered off. Just ordered a new set so hopefully thats what was making that sound.

About the clicking...after about ten runs with the car I noticed some clicking and assumed the worst. I like to use my trigger finger as my slipper. After inspecting both diffs they looked like new. I then checked the CVD pins and everything looked good. I run at California's Norcal hobbies and the track is not a horsepower track and it's a medium traction indoor track. I then ran the car on carpet in my house and did not hear the clicking anymore. I can't explain the clicking sound that I heard from the car at the track.
