This is all just a crazy shock and somewhat a monkey wrench to what I heard so much about the TenShock across the board, especially from SLASH 4X4 owners.
The 3800Kv is a good motor, just depends how competitive you want to be. I have run the sc401 4600, 2400 castle, and 3800 castle. All are great, but for dual purpose the 2400 on 3s is what you want. For bash the 3800 is ok, but racing it has a rather soft powerband. The tenshock would be my motor of choice if i didn't draw so many amps and make my runtimes really low. Since you said you'd be racing not very often or with serious rules, i'd stil recommend the 2400 castle 3s combo.

The 2400kv is longer motor, with longer rotor and stator meaning more power and longer can meaning better heat dissipation.

In my case... Its not that big of deal to go either way since the option of going with anything different besides a MMP/2400KV I would have to buy new 2s lipos...(Ex. TenShock combos) equals more money on top of the system...OR, MMP/2400 pay a lil more and and already have lipo's...lol!

Well, after researching now on specifically the MMP/2400 combo, seems everyone...I mean everyone 100% has been satisfied with this set up from racers and bashers alike and from SCTE, AE SC and SLASH owners across. The negative comments or feedback I have read, where all operator/owner error for not setting up the ESC correctly or some small DUH! setting that once discussed through research, found the issue and fixed leaving the person amazed about the combo.

Although, it seem that I was indecisive and back and fourth with my decisions and and and...lol! This thread has really and truly helped me lead the way for more directed info filled research which lead me directly to what I needed to know for myself and my use.

So...end results, I purchased the MMP/2400 Combo w/blower fan for my SLASH. I am sure I will be happy with it just kicking around on a practice track and street/yard bashing. If I ever decided to step up the skills to competitive racing, I assure you, It won't be a slash...lol! ~ That also has been found out through research...But that I am sure is another thread for another time...lol!

good choice. You'll love the feel of that combo on 3s.

Thanks dude... like I said... Price wise, I was especially looking at the same value since I already have the lipos. But can't wait!

My next question is does the longer can 2400kv motor fit with the esc mounted right behind the motor in its original spot on the slash or do I need the snappy RC XL MMP kit for the longer can of the 2400kv 550?

I got the snappy mount on my pede 4x4. Makes things a lot easier.

I figured at least that much because of the slight size difference between the 2 motors. Sounds like a win win situation from all angles.
