Default ESC cleaning and maintenance

I have a Xerun 150 esc that I recently got, I am relatively new to the game, so I was just wondering how you clean this machine.
Obviously dirt gets in to the fan area and surely this cant be good.
Any advise?
Thanks in advance...

compressed air is the best place to start, moisture and chemicals can do bad things even though you might get away with it most of the time....

You might also try an old toothbrush for the gunk that will not just blow off.
