Default ballistic 17.5

I have 2 ballistic 17.5's. both in xxxsct's. one powered with novak gtb2xdrive and the other power with SP GT pro. one of the motors is bad ass, the other has a cobalt rotor and an epoxy dipped stator. I don't understand, the one with no hop ups has always been way faster. I'm pulling 3 more teeth on the newer one with all the cool stuff, and it still won't stay with my sons truck. I'm going back to my old reliable D3 17.5. atleast it's got the same grunt as the older ballistic.
