I hear what you're saying but calling them toys is in no way degrading them. It can be used in a degrading manner but none of us mean it in that way. As serious as you take racing, it isn't your job, it's not how you make a living. It is your passtime. I don't race mx anymore, I just ride but even when I raced, I took it pretty seriously but I would still consider my dirt bike a toy. A motorcycle is a toy, a boat is a toy, a sports car is a toy, etc. They're sources of pure enjoyment not income therefore, imo they are toys.

1/8 buggy tires are no more costly than sct tires. I get plenty of wear on my ss tires too so i cant complain

Yep I ran firm and Medium all season and kept the cost down. How much I don't know? Yet if they were cheaper you would see a lot more club racing. I'm in the Mid west. 1/8th scale is not like it used to be at all.
I reserve the right to be wrong but its the only gripe I hear at the track and that is the cost of tires. And I myself had tires I could not even use just in finding the right tires to run. In the entire season I would guesstimate 400+ in tires.
Tires were my only necessary cost. Not bad vs nitro.
I spend around 150.00 in a winter 1/10 season tops.

I guess because i dont race every weekend it helps but man on my truggy at least i can get plently of runs on them still with Soft compound im trying out a pair of Medium tires this weekend to see. It depends on what surface your on also i never ran on a Blue Grove surface and dont plan to lol.
I have about 3 sets of tires really for the whole season .
Il say this you think prices for these tires are expensive take a look at four wheelers or Dirt bike tires lol.

I guess I'm just too use to 8th scale being nitro and 10th scale being electric. I wish nitro truck would come back. Trucks like the RC10GT and the XXX-NT. Im old school I raced when brushed motors were still around and Nimh and Nicads were the batteries of choice. Oh well to each their own, race what makes ya happy, if it's nitro or electric as long as your having fun.

I know very few who don't try to win. Yet I don't know anyone who tries to lose.

Yea i very rarely win in the mains anyways have won in a heat race its always something that happens in the mains but i can finish in the top 5 sometimes heck at least i always qualify for the A-Main .
Hows that for a guy who doesnt race every weekend lol.
Its a pro truggy class with some new guys from a sportsman class .
But yea tires arent cheap but its not like there $100 a pair you know.

Don't ya'll have big nitro races and pro-series races in your area?
Seems to be plenty of big nitro events. Nitro is only dieing at the club level.

I drove RC10's when I was in 3rd grade. And i remember thinking they were kind of simple and easy back then. Hardly a challenge for a decent wrench. It seems really weird to me that so many racers around me never advanced to a tougher class like nitrobuggy.
I know some people at the airfield only like to fly .40 trainers and have no interest in moveing up to aerobatic kits. Kinda the same thing, I guess....I'll never understand it.

Where i race at theres no pro series races just trophy races used to have cash races but egos get in the way ! Nitro 1/8 scale is still pretty big at the track i go to at least more than electric 1/8 scale .

These classes need to die off and get 8th buggy back to nitro. Its just a big toy with battery's in it. IMO nitro 8th is hobby grade as well as 10th buggy and truck. SCT is more of a demo derby than anything. No real clean driving just bang your way around the track. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Some people are just too resistant to change. I ride motocross and the whole 2 stroke vs 4 stroke arguments still go on. It's stupid and immature to rag on people because they have different opinions and preferences than you do. Nitro is cool but after running it for years, I'm so happy I made the switch to electric. So much less work; I'm not lazy, I just want to enjoy this hobby as hassle free as possible. Electric does that for me. Brushless motors and lipos have revolutionized rc racing. At the end of the day, we play with toy cars. They are made for fun plain and simple.
