That's correct. Battery box is a bit tight. Lipo's with the wires coming out the top will need some dremel work. My "stick pack" sized lipo fits ok though.
Some of the guys over on the scale forums are picking up Madspeed cars and modifying them with rally tires and bodies. They are coming in well under $200 total. Not a bad way to go if you are on a budget. Plus, I imagine they have no qualms about going out and beating on a MS car in the dirt.

Gens Ace shotgun lipos fit perfectly.
Dynamite hardcase lipos with deans fit perfectly too.
Hardcase Haiyin or Turnigy batterys do NOT fit.
Reedy 60C 5500 sticks with bullets do NOT fit
Eurgle stick packs with bullets.....kind of fit.... it's super tight.
The battery basically needs rounded corners at least somewhat similar to what a NIMH pack has, or be substantially thinner than a regular 2S lipo (like the dynamite packs)
I've also seen guys using some of the smaller aircraft packs. Most of the races we do around here are about 5 min and pull 2000mah from a 27T or 17.5 brushless.....and TBH, that's plenty of speed.... (especially when you start racing in snow!)

Really looking into buying this car.
Where do you guys buy Tamiya Rally car bodies for this car? I can only seen to find a couple, a Datsun and a Lancia.
