What pitch pinion does ofna use for they're Hyper 10SC truck. Cause I tried a 48 pitch but that does not quite mesh. Thanks

You will need a Mod 1 pinion. What motor are you running? Some motors have a 3mm shaft, while others have a 5mm.

Yes I found that out that it takes a Mod 1 pinion with a 3mm shaft cause I have a Novak 540 ballistic 10.5T motor. I think I will have to get a 550 sized motor for the truck cause I heard that a 540 will get a little too hot, so it needs a bigger motor. Thanks

I have not had heat issues with my motor, esc, or batteries with this truck. I have run a Castle 3800kv motor - 540 motor and now use a Tekin SCX 4.5. I think the Tekin is a 550 motor..not one hundred percent sure... Are you geared correctly? You may have excessive motor heat because your pinion is too large.... Do you race or bash? One other thing to check out is binding...Does everything move freely?

I just got the truck so I haven't tried it yet but everybody is telling me to get a 550 sized motor or a 4 pole motor since the truck is a little on the heavy side and the 540 sized 2 pole motor will heat up more. I just ordered a 12T and 14T Mod 1 pinion with 3mm shaft. I don't even know what KV motor I should run in this truck yes I will be racing not bashing. I have raced a 2wd SCT but 4wd SCT is a lot different the gearing is different and the motor set up is different. So I'm just trying to get the best set up. I also race a 1/10 4wd buggy but its much smaller and less heavy so I don't need a 4 pole motor for it. I run a 3200KV motor with a 60A ESC in the buggy. I have good ESC's for the truck, I have a Venom 80A waterproof ESC that was made for they're 4 pole 4000KV motor and a Novak GTB that can handle the Novak 550 sized motors. But again I wanna have a good set up for this truck.

Your best bet is to go to the track that you are going to run on and ask knowledgeable racers. The Hyper 10SC is lighter than most other ten scale 4x4 Short Course Trucks. Personally, I run on an outdoor track and my next purchase would either be a Tekin 4 pole 4600 or 4000 motor or equivalent. Try running what you have and ask at your track.

I run at an outdoor track also. The thing is most guys at my track are hush about they're set up cause they run Losi, Associated and Slash. I will be running in the mod class so basically anything goes if you can handle it. Everybody is telling me to get the Novak 5.5/6.5T 550 motor. They said the truck will run much better with these motors. And the plus side to the Novak motors you can drop in a new stator and change its speed for cheaper the buying a new motor.

Even though the 10sc is one of the lightest 4x4 trucks you will have a hard time getting the 540 10.5 to work well in it. Best cheaper choices (depending on you esc) will be ballistics 550 (used to run 4.5 in mine for large out door track) or castle 1410 4 pole motor. The castle ran a little cooler and was lighter. Either can be had in the fs forum for around $50-$80.

I use to run the hyper great truck. I would recommend 550 can, less stress on motor and electrics. Since its one of the lighter 4x4s you can ran 6.5 or down to 4.5. My buddy still runs one and is quick he has a pro4 4600kv and it flies I ran a 4000 kv and it was quick as well

I have a Leopard 3900KV 4 pole motor its a 540 sized motor but with the heat sinks built in so its smaller then the actual 540 motor more like a 380 sizes motor would this work with this truck or would it be too much strain on the motor.

Well I decided to get a true 550 motor and settled on the Skyrc Toro 4 pole 4000KV short course 4x4 motor.
