Matt
I've been using them, but mostly with no weights. I did try some weight towards the rear of the car when I was trying to correct something. I have since removed the weight and corrected the problem with suspension changes. I think the weights aren't needed, and are just a band-aid to a handling problem, but I like having them in my box just in case I start bleeding

Are there any must need upgrades for this car?
Replace the ballstuds that are not long in length when it comes to threads. Pickup some of the longer ones. The short ones can be found in the front caster block and someplace else (memory is failing me right now). Otherwise, they tend to pull out.

I was running 34/69 on a Fantom Ion3, until I did something dumb. Used a kimborough associated spur as per what Cpt keeps saying.

I've got an avid triad and a reedy incoming. Going to start at around 30/69 or 72 then go up.

the only upgrade this car needs is a endless supply of charged batteries so you can keep turning laps

Too many variables to give you the "sweet spot" on gearing. How much endbell timing you are running, how heavy your car is, what rotor you are running, and how large your track is can vary your timing by quite a bit... and the gen2 tekin motor is probably going to be about your least popular motor at this point considering it's so new. I don't know a single person running one at either of my tracks. Having said that, here is where I run. With this combination, the 31/69 is the sweet spot. 30 is slower, and so is 32. It can also vary motor to motor of the same model. (although probably not much).

Fantom APEX 17.5
Fantom 4500 shorty lipo
endbell timing maxed
12.5 HT rotor
31/69

Car is blistering fast for a 17.5. This weekends race I ran a fast lap of 14.4... Mod fast lap for the night was 14.3 in a b4.1
