I thought RPM rotors were the ones to go for 17.5?

i've ran the reedy and the orion..they are both very smooth.. the orion is so smooth it feels slow, which would make me pull the trigger farther faster which made me personally very in consistant. thats just how it felt to me in 2wd. in 4wd i absolutely love my vst.. i think i just need to take more time and dial it in to what i like in 2wd

hollywood 7.. i am running the .5 hubs in my car, with the stock rear arms and like the feel

If you don't need the torque, or need more top end, then yes. I've never been anywhere that I would want to sacrifice low end for more top end (in 17.5).

I asked the same thing in the Tekin thread and the guys over there said those motors are better suited for on road cars. You could use it for 2wd buggy but they liked the normal one better.

Anyway, I get my RB6 today! So amped.

Yep.. I run a Fantom Apex 17.5 and run the 12.5 High Torque rotor with it. It's a must have for the RB6 as the car is a bit on the porky side. (medium sized indoor clay).

I imagine if you were running on a very large outdoor track (1/8th scale track) with longer straights and fewer turns, you may want the 12.3 broad power band, or 12.3 high rpm... but I don't know anybody that runs 1/10th scale buggies on that type of track.

I prefer the torque for all applications. I can manage RPMs with gearing

[waves hand] we have 2 pretty large tracks here in AZ they they always include long straights....

I run the Novak 17.5 High RPM motor and even on smaller tight tracks it is really good. The key is, you need to gear these like a 13.5 motor. i.e. my usually gearing is 29/69 instead of the 30's needed for a normal 17.5

I had it geared 32/69 when I first got it, and it was a mistake... no acceleration on layouts that have a turn followed by a jump. Re-gearing solved that.

Yeah I did last race weekend...for sure the car was a little better accelerating and more stable while braking...lost some straight line speed but I think also lost some steering going in the corner.

I am going to try and lower the roll center (RF rear suspension blocks) which should give more overall traction...why don't you try that first or softer rear spring?

Another problem with the stock motors right now is roar, right now two motors that should be on the list of approvals are not (novak high rpm, and the new tekin motor). Then the one motor that should defiantly not be on the list (d3.5) is on the list. Roar is working on a different way to tech and approve the new 17.5 motors, the rules were written a long time ago. So some stuff is a little outdated. Right now they are not approving any new 17.5 motors, which sucks because i love my novak motor and really dont want to run my d3.5. To some people that dont mind if the motor is approved or not, thats fine. But i personally like knowing i can go to any race i want, roar event or not and know that i am allowed to race.

What does this have to do with the RB6? and I don't know anything about the D3.5 that should make it non-roar approved. It's a fine motor, but has no advantage over any other modern day 17.5 My fantom revtechs are equally as punchy and fast.

Sorry guys, my fault. Didn't mean to thread jack with motor talk. Lets go back to talking how great the RB6 is.

Well it solved something for me at least - get the high torque 12.5 rotor. Toasted my Ion3 a few days ago doing something stupid.
