after wrenching the rb5 for years, the yaiba front suspension mount was a huge and welcomed innovation I just had to transplant to to the rb6.
The Yaiba stuff certainly is pretty but they machine a little extra material out to make stuff lighter. Lighter is weaker. Also, I have a special gift for breaking RC cars.

I broke the fancy rear camber link mount in 10 laps.

That looks totaled! What j like about the yaiba front suspension mount is, it's grub screws are machines at an angle. I think the hole in the centre does remove some strength, which it will otherwise will have...

It seems like yaiba has stopped production of all the off road stuff... Buggy tech and requirements change with tracks... And high traction clay/Astro/grass/carpet tracks are now the norm. Having some weight towards the front is actually desirable.

Default RB6.6

I'm like a kid waiting for Xmas night with the new RB6.6! I'm considering selling my Xray XB2 and having a few K cars. I'll keep my current RB6 and convert to the RZ6 and run the new 6.6 alongside. My gf has recently picked up the transmitter and I think it would be a lot easier to manage two K cars rather than an Xray and Kyosho together. Really glad to see them include all the transmission options in one kit too. That's sick!

Did anyone pre order yet?

I've pre ordered also. Going to run this car in 17.5, what would be a starting point on gearing? I'll be running on a medium sized high bite clay track. Thanks for any help on this, Dave.

I think it was manly loose on power. The battery was sideways. I had the McKune brace but didn't screw it down. Was using the old electrons

I run anywhere from 27 to 31 pinion on a 69 spur depending on ambient temperatures and the size and layout of the track. I've always read and heard to keep motor temps under 160 so I always keep an eye on that. I run a fan on the motor.

I race this car in stock 3 times a week and I spent quite awhile looking for the sweet spot of both good overall top end and decent torque. For my taste, I'm geared at 69/34 timing on motor set to 40*, Orion r10 punch set to 9(max).
Car is very fast this way. Good luck.

I think my temps would be cooking on that gearing!
I run a Motiv motor. Not sure on timing but it's up around 40. My car weighs 1600 on 2.2 wheels with steel drive shafts and stock 4 gear. We mainly run mod so I haven't put much focus on 17.5 setup. But, I did finally get a 3 gear built with aluminum pucks and ceramic bearings and going to try 2.4 wheels. Running it for the first time tomorrow.
Likea, what's your weight and drivetrain and opinion on 2.2 versus 2.4 wheels?

I ran a hand wound Fantom 17.5 (the one before the new Fr1) and I was geared at 66/31. My car weighed 1510 grams and was a rocket. On our high bite clay I would carry the front wheels from corner to corner. Few people thought I was boosted or running a 10.5. I also had the light weight chassis(milled out for the sideway battery mod), pucks, slipper eliminator, a few titanium screws and ceramic bearings. As far as the 2.2 vs 2.4, I like the 2.2. I felt that the 2.2 gave me more grip. I know it sounds crazy and I probably am but that is what I felt.

Not crazy. I actually had a Jcon sponsored driver recommend 2.2 for that exact reason. That was for mod buggy but now you have me second guessing. I'm going to snoop around the pits before I buy.
Thanks for your input mang!

1 diff with the car. Many different transmission options available in the box, 4 gear upright, 3 gear upright, 3 gear rear motor. With some extra parts, guessing a idler gear, 2 bearings and the shaft it rides on you can run a 4 gear laydown in the same space as a 3 gear laydown.
