What should the order of parts be to use the associated slipper setup on the rb6 and what all is needed from the b4?

What's the mod setup many are using? Im looking to try something new with more of a planted rear end vs my standard Tebo style setup.

Is it necessary to run a servo saver on the RB6? Or does the standard plastic servo horn hold up just fine?

I used a kyosho back plate. Then I had to grid off the area on the vts plate were the ae spring sits and goes around so I could use the kyosho spring. the k spring is shorter and allows u to get the nut on all the way to the nylon. Don't have my car here or I would post up some pics.

So im not so sure about this anymore. I have been running this combo since day 1, but now the more I look at it, I think the AE pads might be a bit too THIN actually, causing the Kyosho slipper disks to actually sit on top of the PLASTIC of the gear, and not the pads. (overlaps just a bit on each side of the octagon). (Maybe I have sanded my pads down too far?)I went back to the Kyosho spur gear / pads, and it's night and day better... BUT, I can't gear properly for 17.5 as the smallest spur I can find is a 76, and I can only fit a 30 pinion. (way under-geared)

So to get my car geared right for my last race of my points series last night, I decided to CA glue two sets of AE pads together and run them double thick. Seems to work just fine... but still doesn't feel as smooth as the kyosho slipper. (note, this makes the cost of pads twice as expensive, and you have to shim your dust cover out 1mm )

So I bought an avid.

Last night was the last race of our winter points series. 7 races with 1 drop. I had SC wrapped up going into the last night, but buggy came down to finish spots in it's last race. The RB6 just didn't have any flaws! Red army representing in a sea of B4s!

GITSUM is correct and this spur gear/slipper pad info should be added to the first post if you can do so Brandon...

If you want to run 17.5 stock with the Kyosho slipper assembly, the Losi (70t) spur & slipper pads are the only ones that allow you to use the stock Kyosho slipper disks, which rest on the pads entirely. The AE slipper pads wear down and the Kyosho slipper plates end up resting on the spur gear. I have tried all different types of Mfg's spur/slipper combos over the years with my K cars and the Losi spur/pads are the only the fit CORRECTLY

The AVID Slipper is a great upgrade if your budget allows and gives you the option of 66, 69 & 72t spurs if you run stock and need to reach a low FDR.

Hey Matt,
If you haven't already, definitely read the 1st page of this thread as it has a lot of useful info posted. You would most likely benefit from building your 6 rear motor if its going to be run on dirt/clay or anything less than (extremely!) high grip traction (think Astroturf, carpet or most recently, SRS-Cactus). Several goods setups on KyoshoAmerica.com and Petitrc.com, along with pages of info here in this thread!
