okay.. so if the total length of the RB5 is 380mm (as stated by Kyosho), then the RB6's total length should be 380 + 13 = 393mm. But Kyosho website say the Total Length of RB6 is 395mm.

So, are we saying that kyosho lengthened the wheel base and total length by 15mm but only increased the chassis by 13mm?

I am asking dumb questions, but I just want to understand.

Chassis length difference all by itself is irrelevant... it's the overall wheelbase #s that matter.

I think that the reasonable answer here is that RB5 wheelbase at 270mm is measured at the sortest position whereas in the RB6 at the longest wheelbase positiOn? To me that is the Only logical explanation

When comparing the two buggies side by side if you compared the length of the chassis' you would see a 13mm difference.

If you compared the overall length of the buggies, bumper to bumper, you would find 15mm difference.

If you compared wheelbase differences between the two side by side you would see a 15mm difference.

Now keep in mind that you can place your suspension mounts anywhere on the chassis and even though they gained 13mm length in chassis they were able to gain an extra 2mm of wheelbase length. How they did that I don't know but it could be more range of adjustments at the front/rear hubs, maybe some arm sweep or some other method.

Just don't confuse wheelbase with overall length because as these guys have said there is a difference.

Are you lost now?

Okay, I understand that. I just don't understand why Kyosho have to cheer for having a +13mm chassis instead of a +15mm wheelbase.

It might be something that remains a mystery.

Everyone was adding +8 chassis or whatever length they were cutting up cars for.. Everyone's thought process is in chassis length do that's what they advertise.

How much torque is needed in a 2WD buggy steering servo? I ask it here because it will go in an RB6.
Thx

I've had good luck with Savox's LPF servo. It has like 125..

Everyone uses these over powerful servos that just cost more but don't work any better. I looked at old set up sheets and you'll see pros using like 80-100/tq servos, if anything the cars are lighter so nit much more is needed.

No such thing lol, that's like asking whos gonna win the superbowl, ur gonna get a bunch of different answers. Evry esc, servo, motor has its plusses and minuses. Best thing to do is hit your local track and see if you can try different setups out from racers there, most probably wont mind

Obviously a matter of opinion and the answer depends largely upon your own personal preferences. I'll give you a few things to consider:

Here's what Tebo runs, which he is paid to run, and these makers all have corporate relationships or are owned by the same company:

Team Orion (owned by Kyosho)
  • [INDENT]
  • Carbon Pro LiPo batteries (shorty pack, not yet available, is what he ran at the HRH Shootout)
  • Vortex R10 Pro (2s-3s) ESC
  • Vortex 7.5T motor (the last gen, not the current VST, which is exactly the same as the Peak 7.5, which Kyosho re-labels for cheaper sale in the US)
KO Propo
  • EX-10 EURUS with RF904FH 2.4GHz module
  • KR-411FH Receivers
  • Drop down wheel adapter
  • KO Propo RSx Response or newer BSx servos

I run the same equipment and really like it but have recently switched to using a Futaba 4PKS because I prefer the ergonomics to every other Tx I've tried. And the Orion R10's are rock solid speedos in my experience. I haven't had a single problem with any of them. The KO servos are expensive but they're also rock solid. I run them in all of my cars.

I've been running the new Orion VST Pro Stock 17.5 motors in my cars when I run stock class and I think they're very fast. I compared them to the Team Epic D3.5 motor and didn't find a very big difference. I've also tried the new Reedy Sonic motors and found them to be pretty quick as well.

All that said, there are cheaper alternatives that are more than adequate, but it sounds like you're not necessarily looking for the best buy.
